Anybody have an idea what the song is about? It has extremely odd lyrics (typical weiland.)

I was thinking Scott is basically telling the media to chill the fuck out on all these big dilemas that keep popping up everywhere and blowing them out of proportion
Sin makes me strong.

Q101 in Chicago finally got it. They played it once this morning, and once yesterday, amongst the regular STP tracks (Sex Type Thing, Unglued, D & B, ILS).

I see they also have been playing Pearl Jam's 'Amongst The Waves.' That must be their next single off of Backspacer.

I heard it on Q101 too... I was shocked. I thought we'd have to go to the Loop.

You know, 93XRT has been playing Between the Lines ALOT, so I wouldn't be suprised if TALO ended up on their rotation too. I don't think Q101 has played BTL much since it debuted, but it's always on XRT.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

I live in central new jersey so I'm able to pick up Philadelphia and New York stations. These stations are still playing the year-old Muse single, "Uprising" a lot more than "Between the Lines". That says something..

I've heard only heard "Take a Load Off" on 101.9 RXP new york which plays more alternative/indie than rock.

I still haven't heard it on my local classic rock station.   They played "Wicked Garden" today, though  ???   And they have played BTL on there, too, before.

I don't think I can handle listening to the modern rock station long enough to wait and see if they play it.

Let's face it.... we're all in our late 30's early 40's, and radio is almost dead. On top of that, STP broke up for 8 years. And nobody knows up from down in the music biz right now. On top of ALL THAT, hip hop rules the music scene right now.

But, as we all know, their concerts are special. If they want it (again)....reeeaaallly want it... they're going to have to earn it. "Stand the test of time"...pay their dues....outlast the odds.....AGAIN.

I think their BEST chance is to go FULL ROCK. That means Huckleberry Crumble next. Appeal to the STP/Aerosmith (30's/40's) crowd (those of us that aren't TOO busy raising kids), hungry to escape hip-hop.

I think songs like TALO and Peacoat, and Hazy Daze and Fast as I Can are songs for the STP faithful and are as much against the odds as the band is.

I mean, "Down" and "All in the Suit" were special ROCKERS.. when radio was ALIVE. Radio doesn't run the show any more. The internet does. And youth.

GRASS ROOTS. That's what will win the game, and that's gonna take 4 guys that really want it.

I don't know why they didn't release Cinnamon.  Whether you like it or not it is going to be a hit, no doubt about it.  Once that garners some attention from the media outlets and the public they can expect more play from their other singles.  Bad move not to go that route IMO.

Because like a parasite, it crawls into your brain and stays there - no matter how hard you try, you can't get it out of your head.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

Just my opinion.  It is by far the most radio friendly song on the album.

I've had no problem at all getting Cinnamon out of my head, thankfully.

I've yet to hear it here in the popular bay area station Live 105. It's even been awhile now since I heard Between The Lines. I think what happens is that a band will release a new single and maybe the radio station will play it for a day or two or a few days and then if they realize that it's not catching on, they just go back to the hits. I know Live 105 plays STP alot but I think they just went back to playing Vasoline, Interstate, Creep etc after they realized Take a Load Off is not hit material or going to catch the listeners ear.  As STP fans, Take A Load Off is an awesome song! As for the rest of the general public....meh don't know about that. I also believe Cinnamon is the most radio friendly tune on the album and  I think if they went with that choice as a future single that they would get a radio hit on their hands. IMHO.

Its hard for a song to catch on if you only play it for a few days, and how did BTL not get played, it was a pretty big single.   I think that stations got a shitty music director

Nah, Live 105 played the crap out of the song and it was on their Top 10 song list for many weeks in a row. I'm saying NOW that the song has done it's justice, they don't play it really and I haven't heard Take A Load Off yet on the station. =)
