Hickory Dichotomy on Kimmel - wtf! The night before too.....
« Reply #105 on: May 28, 2010, 09:23:33 AM »
Can anyone decipher what Scott's saying in the intro of Hickory Dichotomy?

He's going:

Alright, Alright, This song's ........ ........
Alright, Alright, This song's ........ ........

He does it instead of - 'come on'.

Robert stops singing after the first two. Fancy doing something like that on a TV performance - he really carries on like such selfish prick sometimes.

Also, what was with the re-recorded vocals on Big Empty and Between the Lines the night before!!!!? Listen in headphones and watch Scott's mouth closely - they're trying to save performances - because the real one's are pretty ordinary.

This annoys me.

Yeah I dunno what he's saying.... Not cool though. He looks good though. I love Eric's new bass drum head.

This performance sounds flat. I think they need to remix the audio. The bass sounds good, but everything else sounds pretty terrible.

Listen to the audience recording. It's great. As I said before, I can't remember Scott sounding so good during Big Empty in years.

To me it sounds like "This one's for Spin" but I could very easily be wrong

I've A & B them - they're melodined without a doubt man.

Melodine's the new manual note by note tuning program that sounds more natural than auto-tune - it's 100% without a doubt - on there. It can also, when grab a weird note - make certain bits in the timing sound a bit funny.

Holding up the jacket, I should have brought the album in but I left it in my car.

I know. I just wanted to defend the original performance since it was not ordinary as you said.
I'm completely ok with a minor vocal fixes. Doug have done a great job on mixing the show. It still sounds like the actual performance, unlike the VH1 scpecial show which was edited to death.

I dunno...i dont really see the whole synching thing...looks/sounds fine to me. I'm gonna take Brett's word for it considering he was there that it sounded the same in person if not better

I do agree that the mix for hickory was pretty bad tho...thought Dean's guitar was wayyyy way too low
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

Dean's guitar was way louder live.  TV mixes are almost always shit unless it's acoustic.

Also, does anyone seriously think that legendary House Of Blues and Storytellers shows weren't edited? C'mon.

I Love the fleuron background with that design, like the actual CD...I am glad they kind of adopted that as their signature thing!

Eric changed the face of his drum kit! No more STP logo - now it's a variation of the new album cover.  :o

I noticed the kit right away, looks freaky, like it was glowing.

Well, I guess that answers the question of what he thought of the Spin article then.
