Eh, the sales are pretty low but I really don't care how well the album sells considering how people's tastes in music have changed in the last ten years. The music industry is awful these days and if STP had a huge selling album I would almost be worried that if so many people like it then musically the album would be too generic. Face it most popular music today is extremely generic.

I don't think there is a problem with the poor sales of the album as long as they have a #1 single or two (albums are mostly irrelevant these days anyways) and sell out their shows I think that's a success. Don't get bummed out about the sales it's not as bad as you think it is.

the sad factor is people actully wanna hear Gaga Over STP most likely

Good news, sort of...    Album sales did not plummet from last week, they might even increase... STP gains from #45 to #41 so it is a good hold...  Expect around another 10k this week.  With only 37% reporting STP has sold 3595 albums.  By the time 100% reported, it could be over 10k for the week.  This would total over 100k for the album!!!

There ya go, not bad, they cracked 100k, thats the new gold record status of today.  Hopefully TALO gets played with some regularity and with the North Amercian tour they MIGHT get near 500k but the end of September (its a stretch buy hey)

Final numbers, dropped 2 places to no. 47.

Sold 8538 copies, a drop of 18% compared to 44% the previous week.

They really should have released another single closer to when the album came out. Between The Lines is a good song but it doesn't surprise me that it's only carried the album this far. They need another single on the airwaves.
Do you like STP? Check out my band! We're heavily STP-influenced. http://dropdeadsixtymusic.bandcamp.com/

Ideally a single closer to the release date would have been better.  But the single just got released and Im sure when they come back to North America that'll help sales.

I hope that they dont do what they did during the No.4 and SHangri tour and sacrifice the new material in order to keep the "favorites" in the stelist.  @least 6 songs off of STP should be played.

ANd Drake sold 460+k albums, 400 more than STP sold in its first week, lol .

Atleast 6 songs off of STP should be played.

I think we are lucky to get four in there now.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

We got another 6 weeks approx before STP begins their US tour...does anyone think that by that point the new record may have fallen off? I don't know...just thinking maybe they should have struck while the iron was hot...newly released album...band on tour...just in time for summer...etc.

By August 10th, (I hope not) maybe it will be just another nostalgiac tour. I'm hoping TALO really cranks it up and gives both the album and the band a boost.
STP: 07.31.00 | 08.04.01 | 10.24.01 | 04.23.02 | 10.11.02 | 05.31.08 | 09.05.10
SW: 11.30.11 | 03.12.13 | 08.29.14 | 03.10.15
VR: 05.28.04 | 05.18.07 || AoA: 02.01.07
CheSTP: 09.06.13 | 04.25.15 | 09.20.15 || JeffTP: 07.28.18 | 09.15.19

I think it is good that they are taking a small break from playing The States, as to not over tour.   I will be very anxious to see them the next time they play So Cal.   ( I haven't seen them since 2008)   My main hope is that they add some more new songs to their set to promote the album.

Chart update for week of July 3, 2010:

Stone Temple Pilots

Billboard 200: #47 (-2), peak #2
Rock Albums: #13 (0), peak #1
Alternative Albums: #8 (+1), peak #1
Hard Rock Albums: #4 (+2), peak #1

Between The Lines

Rock Songs: #14 (-10), peak #1
Alternative Songs: #20 (-7), peak #1
Canadian Hot 100: #58 (+3), peak #50

Take A Load Off has still not charted on Billboard.  However, based on the FMQB airplay charts, it should debut next week.

Man, these stats kinda sting... and I'm just a fan, I think this would hurt the band a little more then me. And I know all these rock bands out there including STP say "we don't care about the charts" yadda, yadda, yadda, I think they do fuckin' give a shit to some extent!

There is no doubt about that. But these numbers are low even with all things considered. That awful sh*t godsmack released sold like 120k in its first week. Alice in chains new disc also has done much better.

I just hope it sells enough to make the guys want to release another record after this...  It has to be discouraging to the band to not sell what they used to, but I kind of believe they are ok with it.  SLDD didn't sell well, and they stand behind it - so I hope they continue to put out records....
