Hickory Dichotomy
« on: March 21, 2010, 06:56:46 AM »
First of all, what is dichomoty or whatever that is and how do you pronounce it?
second of all, its my favorite track of the four followed closely by btl. I cant get enough of those two songs! With tiny music, the only songs that really grabbed me were BBB and Trippon, with #4 it was down and sour girl, with sldd, it was only hollywood bitch. Out of the four new songs I really like two already. Im excited about the other 7 or 8 tracks! This musically may turn out to be up there with the first two cd's! Im not at all knocking the last three albums I like them, but not as much as Core and Purple. I'm excited for the band I hope the record is successfull so that they stay together longer!

I think the song has a Rolling Stones meets David Bowie vibe.  But not in a Dancing in the Streets way!

It's my favorite off the new record right now. The chorus is great.

Huckelberry Crumble, Deans playing and the new songs
« Reply #3 on: March 21, 2010, 10:55:47 PM »
How awesome is Dean's guitar work on this song?  I can't stop listening to it on you tube.  Fucking fantastic!  Dean's play has progressively gotten so much better with each album it is amazing.

On another note am the only one who thinks Between the lines is pretty average?  It sounds like it belongs on Libertad.

I haven't really listened to Crumble. I'm honestly trying not to listen to too many songs before the studio cuts are properly releases.

There's no way in hell Duff could ever write anything like the bass line in BTL. Same goes for the Sorum with drums and even Slash with guitar. It's actually a very well written song dispite being kinda repetitive. But then again, Vasoline was repetitive... And that was a well written song, too!

does anyone else think the verse vocally sounds like something Mike Patton would write? The song definitely has that Faith No More weirdness thrown in it. Love it!

Anyone else hear the end solo from Pop's Love Suicide in Bagman?  That lil breakdownr Dean plays for the last minute reminds me of the end of Pop's Love Suicide

I had a dream last night I was in the car with my dad driving around my hometown and a studio version of Hickory Dichotomy came on the radio and it sounded great. I can still remember what it sounded like in my dream...it'll be interesting to see how the real version compares lol

I had a dream the other night that I was in some hardware store or something and they were playing 5 of the new songs over the speakers. I asked one of the guys if I could have the CD and they're like "nawwww" but they told me if I brought in my laptop, I could make a copy of it as long as I didn't tell anybody where I got it from.

That's really strange because I actually had a dream in like early March when I was anticipating Between the Lines being released similar to those dreams. In the dream I was going to my local Walmart to buy the single, like physically buy it instead of downloading it. So when I got there there were mad people there trying to get the single, like a huge line out the door. I waited for a while and a few other trippy random unrelated things happened, long story short I finally got to the music section and there was a whole section dedicated to STP.  The single cd came in a deluxe aluminum case that was like 3 inches tall and had the flueron engraved and was like light pink and silver. Not only that but it was like 20 bucks. All of that for one song lol. Anyways in my dream it sounded like Still Remains meets a heavier post Tiny Music song like Heaven and Hotrods, All in the Suit that you Wear or Down. When I say that I mean it had a Still Remains like intro and got heavier in parts it was really vague so it's hard to describe...Not like any of you guys care what the song sounded like in my dream or my whole dream in general lol.

Wow, so you travel back in time 15 years in your dreams. Guess your user name is pretty fitting.

Just kidding :)   Cool dream...

I'm still convinced to this day that I've written quite a few #1's in my dreams but I can never quite remember how they went when I woke up.
