was this show that bad? i didnt make it there i wish i could have since detroit is the only place i can catch stp at. i never seen stp live and i hope i get the chance soon but what really happend the other night at the filmore?

Basically Scott completely lost it on Vasoline and Hickory Dichotomy. He completely lost the rythm fo the songs and on Dichotomy he was so far ahead that Rob actually had to stop playing mid-song.

But from what I've heard the rest of the show went relatively smoothly. Apparently the performance of Lounge Fly was very good... Which is a good thing considering that one's been messed up twice this tour.
Grab the hate and drown it out...

yes, there are historical occurrences that provide of valid frame of reference by which the community can make assumptions...

but is this deficit-based commentary on Scott Weiland's personal problems and the corresponding by-products that have historically mitigated the progression of the band what this thread is really intended to stimulate conversation around?

When you watch the video of Vasoline, it doesn't take long to understand that it's not a monitor problem. There is a BIG difference between sober Scott and not so sober Scott.

I wonder if they've ever considered having a counselor go on tour with them...just to keep Scott's head in it.  Similar to what baseball player Josh Hamilton has, or what Kieth Moon had (even if it only lasted one show).

He did, at least as of last July in Las Vegas.  Myself and a group of others who lined up early met him before the show.

I posted the same thing a few pages back (page 5, I believe) - what the hell happened to Glenn?  He toured with them from 00-02, and those tours went off without a hitch.

To those that have been backstage: what's the atmosphere like?  Is everything still sober?
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

As long as Scott believes he can drink and be fine, there is no point in having a minder/counselor.

Funny thing, I was listening to the WRIF here in Detroit today and after Big Empty the DJ comes on and says STP played an "incredible incredible show," and she is still receiving calls about it. That is not what I had expected her to say.

After seeing the show, and reading almost everybody's posts, all I can say is this:

Scott did have an off night.  But during many of the songs, like "Piece of Pie", he
was singing just fine.  I know we spend our hard-earned money to go to these shows.
We expect to be entertained.  But when I left the venue, I was satisfied with what I saw.  It was only when I got home and read this thread did I feel disappointed.  For those who were upset with STP'S performance that night, I can understand why.  But there are many who had a good time, and I'm just happy I got to see STP again.

To me, the only part of the show that sucked was the second I realized it was over.

Every now and then, someone says something that really strikes you as being quite elegant and profound... the aforementioned statement is one of those rare gems... very touching.

thank you for sharing you thought with the community BK.
