I had to pass on seeing STP in Chicago this time around.
I saw their Chicago show from a couple years back, at the outdoor venue by the lake, when it was really cold out. Scott's voice wasn't that great, had to sing the high parts lower a lot.
but still enjoyed the show.
and Scott kept his shirt on for once.
You missed an awesome show at the Riv, but I was also at that Charter One show which was probably one of the worst of the STP shows I've seen. Not that it was that bad of a show, but I prefer smaller venues and plus they had all those sound issues at the beginning. The highlight was definitely hearing "All In The Suit That You Wear" though!
Thinking of skipping the upcoming 8/20/10 show at Charter One though or definitely waiting to see what the setlist will be like before buying tickets. Unless they're playing mainly new material (or at least "Hazy Daze"), I'll be skipping if it's the same setlist from March but in a larger, inferior venue.
Yeah, I don't doubt at all that The Riv show was much better. In hindsight maybe I should've gone, but it just wasn't good timing for me. If I would've skipped the Charter One show, maybe I would've done the Riv one.
I had been spending a lot of money on other shows at that time, and sorry to sound like a bad fan, but wasn't up for spending another $60-$70 or whatever it was, which is up to $150 if I bring my girlfriend. I wish I would've paid for the Riv show and skipped the Charter One show, though. If they come around again to a small-ish venue, I'll likely catch them at that time.
