Q&A with Softdrive Records Staff
« on: November 21, 2009, 03:04:50 PM »
We're running a Q&A with Scott Weiland's Softdrive Records staff on this forum. If you have a question for the people over at Softdrive, ask away in this topic.

Please note:
  • SDR's staff will decide which questions get answered and which won't. They will answer using the account "SoftDriveRecordsTeam".
  • Posts that do not contain a question for SDR staff will be removed from the topic.
  • There's a separate topic here to discuss the Q&A's.

1. How much Scott is involved in the process of running the label?
2. How many people work in Softdrive Records?
3. What is next on SDR's horizon?
Can we really find
A lovely magic place we dream of?

1) Where did "Softdrive" name come from? Does it mean anything?
2) When was Softdrive officially founded?
3) Through the webisodes we can see framed pictures on the walls, take a walk through the studio and tell me what are those about  ;) Who's the responsable for Lavish decoration? (btw love it)
4) This is probably to Scott but... maybe you can help me, what are the lyrics (almost whispers) at the end of Sentimental Halos?
5) When are the Christmas song and Live Album going to be released?
6) What's Scott as boss like?  ;D

1. How often has Don Was (producer of new STP album) been over there this year?  He was visible in a Softdrive Show episode in September.  How much of the new STP album is Scott recording at Lavish?

2. Do Scott's strange haircuts freak anybody out there?

3. Is Softdrive profitable?  Does it make money?

4. On days that Scott doesn't come in to the studio/office does he cite inclement weather as the reason he can't make it?  ;)

Also can you please print out my signature picture and frame it in the studio?

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07
Scott Weiland Shows: 12/14/08, 12/8/11

I would like to know if Dean, Robert or Eric ever stopped by Lavish to jam with Scott or record stuff with Mr. Was, or if all the writing/recording was done by sending stuff back and forth to each other.

1.  Did Scott ever record or plan on recording a video for Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down?

I remember reading an article/interview stating that he had/or was recording a video for the song back in the 12 Bar Blues era.

2.  Can we get a high quality version of the Barbarella video on the net?  The only one that exists currently is the low quality version that I cleaned up frame by frame waaaay back in the day.

3.  Why was the record company's name switched from Lavish Records to Softdrive records?

Can I ask again? Yes! OK!

1) What's been up to Tommy Joe Wilson? He's kinda disappeared...
2) How have Softdrive artists been signed up to? Do you tend to listen to demos or is it more like, "I've seen this band, they're good"?
3) Was there the slight intention to label STP?
4) Can you estimate when SD releases are going to be world wide distributed?
5) Could you get me a signed Scott pic? I pay the shipment (long trip)  ;)

What does the bathroom at SoftDrive Records look like?  Is there more than one or is it a first come first serve basis?

Do you have enough material on Scott's third album to see what direction the record will take? Will it continue with 'Happy's'  psychodelic pop/rock or will it go in a differant direction? If a new direction, what?

When Scott third album is released, will the same backing band tour with him?

I hear rumours about a live record involving this Scott Weiland Band. Is it true? If so what tracks can we expect from it?

If memory serves me right, Tangle with your Mind has never been played live. Why? Was it too hard to adapt?

Any chance of Scott liberating more VR songs in future endevors?

Have any lost roman treaures have been discovered in Doug Grean's awesome beard?

Thanks for all you guys and gals have done for the fans, it is greatly appreciated!!!

1.  It's been about a year since HIG dropped to the eagerly awaiting masses - any word of getting another single?  Please consider this my vote for "Blind Confusion" or "Pics and Computers".

2.  Will the upcoming "HIG LIVE CD/DVD" contain most of the songs played during the '09 tour?

3.  Who won the 1st game of Scottopoly?

4.  With SDR having released new material from all of their artists, what's the outlook for the next 6-9 months?

Are you guys accepting unsolicited demos?

Also, any updates on the SWB live album?

Is SW's third solo album still going to be a country album?

Hi guys,

Question 1 as always:

1, Does Scott and the band plan to come to the UK for any shows in the near future? Have not seen him live since VR and would love to see him performing tracks from HIG.

2, Who has the most annoying habits in the office and what are they?

Will be back later with more x
