Spinner: STP Plan New Album and 'Long' Tour in 2010
« on: October 27, 2009, 10:56:22 PM »

If it seems like everything you hear about Scott Weiland is fodder for the supermarket check-out lanes, it's because you only hear about his exploits. But the truth is, Weiland has been up to more than just "no good." In fact, on the heels of a new solo effort, 'Happy in Galoshes,' and the launch of his own fashion line, Weiland is currently on the road with his "old faithful" band, Stone Temple Pilots. The tour currently has dates through the beginning of 2010 and Weiland reveals to Spinner that there's lots more in store. In fact, STP has a brand new album on deck.

"When we get back, we're going to finish the album," Weiland tells Spinner. "And then when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour." Without knowing the specifics quite yet, he speculates that the tour will likely stretch over a year, with some breaks. After that, he says, he'll press onwards with work on his third solo album.

And here you thought all he did was rock 'n' roll all night and party every day. For his part, Weiland asserts that while his highs (pardon the pun) are high, his lows aren't really lower than anybody else's. "It just happens that, at some point, my personal life became public interest," he says. "Every day, your average Joe, they have the same experiences that I have. They're just not reported on."

Yeah, because just about every "average Joe" has cut albums with the members of Guns N' Roses, won Grammys and continues to make hit songs, right?
Can we really find
A lovely magic place we dream of?

"Well hell, sometimes it is difficult to take a shower with a broken heart" - Scott Weiland

Thank God....i was beginning to think the album was already done and they had rushed it, good to see they're taking their time, especially now that scott's voice is on point again
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

This is pretty exciting news.  I know we all expected it but this is very reassuring to me.

I just hope a "long tour" implies outside US. Anything else I can wait, don't really care when

Yes this is amazing news.. but I have a dilemma.. I'm going to be studying in London from January to April of 2010.. I hope this tour is very long because I am going to have extreme anxiety if I miss shows in my area..

What are the chances they come to Europe??

They'll likely be touring by the time you get back

I'm stoked for the new record and tour, of course, but I really thought we'd be getting it before "Spring/Summer". It makes more sense to release it at that time from a biz standpoint, so I understand that. I just thought it was finished somewhere and we'd be getting it in the next couple of months.

But as they say "good things come to those who wait".

Man that would be so awesome for you if they happened to play Australia while you're down there. That would just be gold plated icing on top of an already sweet cake.

They're touring a bunch of places in Canada, so hopefully for the sake of everyone else in the world they tour South America, Europe and Australia.

The current tour pisses me off even more knowing it's stalling the release of the album by 3-4 months most likely.  Pretty fucking stupid that they're on tour right now.

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07
Scott Weiland Shows: 12/14/08, 12/8/11

Yeah, I'm disappointed that they said a bunch of times that the album is almost done, but I think they must have recorded everything and are sitting on it, seeing how much they like everything and seeing if there's anything they can improve upon once they've had a few months to decide how great everything is.

I think the more anticipation there is built up for the album, the better it's going to do.
