I thought I remembered reading something about how Dean said it was Scott's fault that SLDD did so bad and they almost got into a punch out.

And I read something about Weiland blaming Dean for him (Scott)relapsing.

I can't wait for Scott's  book, so at least we'll get some of the story somewhat truthfully. Someone really needs to write a book on the band.

ROBERT: Well, we're putting out a record called Thank You! So, yeah. I'd have to say it is closing the book. Dean and Eric and myself, I think, all feel a sense of sadness, relief, anger, melancholy about it... but to try and go on and accomplish something with this band after we've already peaked is a bit cheesy. There's a cheese factor with guys hitting 40 trying to recapture glory. There's no way to go but out. If you're driving a car and it goes off the road, it's hard to steer that car back on the road. I'm proud to look back at our career. I feel we've made a valid contribution to music. I guess putting out a greatest hits set is cheesy, but the strength of the songs is there.



G1: So how do you feel about closing the book on this band?

DEAN: It was time to move on to other things. Life and personalities and brotherhood took its course. Everybody's got cool stuff going on. Scott is about to embark on a new experience. Eric built a nice home studio. It just ran its course, I suppose.

For STP, the process of healing has been ongoing since they first split back in 2003. According to Weiland, the separation wasn't smooth, and at one point, he and Dean DeLeo came to blows. But Kretz said it feels as though the band never threw in the towel, and that STP still "has a lot to contribute to music."

It sounds very trite. But it definitely wasn't a breakup. It was a respite."

Does anyone know what the 2002 fight between Dean and Scott that lead to the 6 year break up was about ?

Dean was pissed that Scott was doing drugs at the time, and then Scott called Dean a hypocrite since he was using too.  There's probably a little more to it though, but they both are over it by now obviously.
