Well, I received the call from the venue today that the show is cancelled.

They did inform me that they are rescheduling for March 20.  Interesting tidbit of information there.  May indicate a spring release date around that time.

Good to see they at least plan on rescheduling the dates.

Are they issuing a refund or are the existing tix good for the new March date????

They informed me that they are refunding the ticket price within 7-10 business days.  Tickets for the rescheduled date will be separately purchased.

Gig let out a while back...before I even go into that - gotta talk a bit about this venue/casino.

Winstar Casino is the worst casino I've been to.  And I've been to a lot, I grew up in Vegas.

First of all - the all seated venue completely drains crowd reaction in my opinion...a lot of people just standing around.  I know some people like having an assigned seat and such...but I'm just not a fan of it - at least offer a small GA area in front of the stage to properly rock out!

Also related to the casino - the gaming was completely crazy...95% slot machines, no craps or roulette, and all the blackjack tables required a "pay to play" percentage of your bet to EVEN PLAY.  Crazy.

So, on to the gig.

Doors opened at 6:30, with the show going off around 8:30. No opener tonight - which is fine with me...I have no problem with going straight the STP greatness!

Fellas came out roughly on time and jumped right into Vasoline....there were a couple hiccups, but they quickly recovered.

The set then followed the Bossier City playlist, with the exception of the addition of LOUNGE FLY to the mix, played right after Dead and Bloated.

The crowd was mostly into the greatest hit package, but I did see several others going crazy for the new stuff, especially BTL.

So, here's the set (no, I didn't get a copy of it tonight...can't win 'em all!)

Vasoline
Crackerman
Wicked Garden
Hollywood Bitch
Between the Lines
Hickory Dichotomy
Big Empty
Sour Girl
Creep
Plush
Interstate
Bagman
Huckleberry Crumble
Sex Type Thing
Dead and Bloated
Lounge Fly

ENCORE
Piece of Pie
Trippin'

Got an off day tomorrow to travel back to KC - then our last show (for a while) is Monday night.

Yes, as far as casinos go Winstar is a poor substitute but it beats driving to Shreveport which is twice as far away.

Also agree that it would have been cool to have a GA section in the center instead of the chairs although as far as I could tell everyone stood the whole time and people were really into the show.  I didn't think the sound was the best but maybe that's just me.  I went online today about 2 hours before the show and got a seat in the last row of the center section upfront.  The couple next to me told me that row had been added on and I wondered about what I had since the seating chart only goes to FF and I was in GG.

Having not seen our boys since July 2008 I was anxious to see them in action again but prepared myself for the "greatest hits setlist".  I guess I'll give up on EVER hearing Dumb Love live.  I thought Scott's voice sounded a little rough and scratchy but he managed.   And I'm sad to say this but it just doesn't look like they are having any FUN.  Sure they are rocking out in sections but sometimes it just really looks like they are going through the motions.  Scott comes out in jeans and a plain white t-shirt....where are the cool suits and hats and the charisma?  I guess we all get older and things change.  Just my .02.  I'm still glad I went and braved the weather to get home.

I took over 100 pictures at the show and I'll work with Rik on making them available to everyone.

Going through the motions three shows into the tour is not a good sign. :(

Again, that's just my opinion.  I'm sure if you ask everyone who was there what they thought about the show you will get a ton of different answers.  The band is older and I am too.  In the absence of STP I've moved on to other bands and gone to other shows.  Usually I am in the front, if not THE front row, and this time I'm 7 rows back which shouldn't make a huge difference (but I think it does).

What mostly irritates me is how the first 2 albums get the whole set list.  They play ONE song from No. 4 and ONE song from SLDD???  Yes there were 4 new songs played and the debate is endless on what kind of crowd is coming to see them but if they think people will listen to songs from an album that hasn't even been released wouldn't they like to try playing songs from albums that are already out and that people can go buy NOW???  It's just frustrating I guess and I don't think I'm alone in this opinion.

Anyway, I don't want anyone to let my opinion of the show discourage them from going or to take away any from any other reviews.  It's just my .02 and maybe I'm not the uber fan that I used to be.  Or maybe I don't like seeing a band that I love playing a Casino in the middle of nowhere when they can and should be so much more.

I did forget to mention that at the end of the show when the 4 of them came up to the front to take a bow that the whole place was chanting "STP! STP! STP!" and they seemed genuinely touched and appreciative.

Judging from the YouTube videos, the band looks the same as they've been for the first few shows.     :-   Oh well, I can't wait to see them in Milwaukee!

Talked to our county clerk, who made the pilgrimage to Thackerville last night, and she said that after a rough start (45 minutes late, Scott not being warmed up on Vaseline) things improved greatly.  I'm hoping for a barnburner in KC tomorrow night.
