Well she's not playing in the US open because of injury (Venus is) so she has plenty of time to hit up concerts  :P
If you don't like STP, then you're pretty much not American (from a MO message board)

Serena Williams was at the STP show tonight. She Tweeted a few times during it. She said she was at the show and it was the best concert she has seen since Green Day. A lot of her followers have retweeted her STP love and what do you know? Word travels fast. I am not sure how many followers she has but STP was showing up on Tweet Deck quite a bit because of her support. It is pretty cool that she is into STP. This was some good publicity for the band tonight. There were a lot of tweets claiming that tonights show was fantastic.

Mentined in a Rihanna article talking about name her new album.

"Purple
Stone Temple Pilots' finest work was their single-word-titled second release, so Rihanna could channel the artistic success of that album while avoiding the pitfalls that frontman Scott Weiland tumbled into."

And Drake uses STP live show as part of inspiration:

"Drake gave respect to Jay-Z and Eminem, saying he "got to see two legends do their thing," and has attended several concerts, including MGMT and Stone Temple Pilots, for inspiration"

Throughout the X-Games today, STP has been played. 8)

Yes exactly. I've played GTA before just to hear "Plush" played on their radio.

We talked about STP in my German class today. My professor asked what music we liked and got into a discussion about music. I mentioned how I saw Cage the Elephant and STP twice within a week and he got jealous.

They were mentioned on that show "The Nanny". Someone said something like, "who has a song called Dead & Bloated?". God, I hate that show, but I looked it up just for that part.

Haha, nice. I remember the kid on that show once said something about wanting 'the new Pearl Jam album.' pretty sure he was talking about Vs. I kind of miss grunge bands being so relevant they are mentioned offhand in contemporary tv shows. Like, the bands are still big and popular, Pearl Jam had their first #1 album since 1996 last year, but for some reason they're just not cool to talk about anymore. Current big bands like Shinedown and Seether really don't deviate much from the O.G grunge artists, either, nor are they as highly regarded. But they will always be mentioned over a '90s band.
