Great Expectations is ons of my favourite films – there is so   much to love about it (such as its use of colour!), but one of the best   things, is of course the soundtrack. It’s such a great execution of how   wonderful music was in the 90s. This has to be one of the best tracks on   the album and in the movie, I love the emotion it imparts, just like   the film. I’ve always loved the Stone Temple Pilots, and have great   respect for the way Weiland pulled himself together. Velvet Revolver   wasn’t bad either. Also – it’s Sheryl Crow playing the accordion, how   about that.

an int. with Ray Luzier

http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/2012/04/ray_luzier_of_korn_i_almost_pe.php

Besides playing with David Lee Roth, didn't you do a short stint with Stone Temple Pilots?
I filled in for Eric Kretz who took time off because his dad passed   away. I am really close to the DeLeo brothers. They are great people and   some of the best musicians on the planet. They called me to fill in on   some reunion shows and it was quite an honor. STP has always been one of   my favorite bands. People think you can replace drummers, but it's not   that way. I had to work really hard in STP. The first show was in front   of 40,000 people.

The writer talks about going to see Nickelback and Creed on the same night.  He begins to mention some other well hated bands in the article but later makes a note:

"2.  I realize arguments could be made for more than five bands. For example, I almost included Stone Temple Pilots, but that opinion seems to be changing."

By the way: The 5 most hated bands in the last 20 years according to the writer are Bush, Hootie and the Blowfish, Limp Bizkit, Creed, and Nickelback.

I understand why some people hate Creed, but I think they're... alright. For what they are, at least. Blows most modern rock artists out of the water, anyway. But that's not saying much.

Their instrumentalists are great. Alter Bridge is one of the better hard rock bands to emerge out of the past decade.

it's like Nickleback if you ask me,at some point it became the cool thing to hate them.I'm not a fan of either band but Neither of them Bother me as much.

Alterbridge is Good, Myles Kennedy is a good singer IMO

So, on Friday night I went to see Duran Duran live, and they had a support band named Cirse (they are a local band), and one of their bandmembers was wearing an STP T-shirt on stage (the black No 4 T-shirt with the white star that says Stone Temple Pilots above it). I thought it was pretty cool.

"Ashley Partridge is a native of Muscle Shoals, now a grad student living in Helena while studying school psychology at University of Alabama. Her song choice, “You Can’t Drive Me Away,” a little-known piece by the Stone Temple Pilots, was deemed a good showpiece for her talents"

interesting tid-bit

“The move back downtown is one of Edwards’ favorite recent Rockfest highlights. His favorite recent Rockfest?

Stone Temple Pilots in 2008,” he said. “They had just re-formed and come back out. That was a great catch. But it helped that Scott Weiland could not get a visa, so they couldn’t do any European festivals. That’s how we got them.”
