Mr Weiland is at the arse-end of this list because he was at the arse-end of grunge -- Stone Temple Pilots were a last-minute, barely included, almost-impersonation of the genre, to be honest. But there's no denying it -- S.T.P. slipped in at the last minute and, for a while there, long before his face got all emaciated and drug-worn, Scott Weiland was quite a cutie. Think, red-haired Weiland in the video for "Plush". Yes, there was a goatee involved, but try and remember: while chin guards are heinous now, they were perfectly acceptable at the time

Christ, can STP/Weiland just be praised without being bashed first? I feel like everything on this thread is STP getting bashed, and then complimented.

EDIT: Also, half the bands on the list weren't even considered grunge.

Hilarious, sad and incomprehensible.

Cale Gontier of Art of Dying when asked...
Who was the first real rock star you met?

That’s a good question. I have to think about that. I’ve met tons of different people over the years for sure. But one of the most memorable would probably have to be Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. That was on the tour when Three Days Grace was opening for Velvet Revolver, so that would have been six or seven years ago or something. He was an interesting cat (laughs). He was cool, you know. It was just brief and we had a quick little chat about nothing really, but you know I’ve met lots of different people over the years and I don’t really get starstruck by anyone, or I hadn’t really, but I think that was probably the closest that I have come cause I’ve always been such a big fan and he was a pretty cool dude and stuff. I think that’s probably number one for me right now.
"I can sit there and feel a deep hatred for Dean and Robert, but when I hear them play guitar, I'm deeply moved." - Scott Weiland '94

wow why have I not seen or heard of this game anywhere else?!?  FINALLY an answer to what I've been bitching about Guitar Hero for so long is addressed.  Could be pretty damn sweet if you ask me!  Wanna check out a demo of it first before I think about purchasing.
Hold me closer.....closer.....let me go!

Apparently AFI video for "Girls Not Grey" was filmed using the same set that STP used for "Sour Girl"

I KNEW IT!!!!!!

Sorry.

I had always speculated that they were the same set, though.  They are extremely similar music videos and they come from the same director.
Picked a song, sang a yellow nectarine.

An article about a modern blues player. Jonny Lang

"While he loved soul and R&B, Lang confessed the impetus for his picking up a guitar, for the first time at age 13, was to learn to play the Stone Temple Pilots song "Plush"

More randomness .. from an interview with a poet lover

"I think the fun, creativity and imagination has been taken out of the teaching of poetry. Let's take me for example. I started writing poetry in seventh grade and my teacher then was brand new, about 23 or 24, and gave us this poetry writing assignment. The first poem I wrote was about the movie The Crow [laughs]. I was obsessed with that movie and I was obsessed with the Stone Temple Pilots song in that movie called "Big Empty.""
