In my opinion would be pretty cool! How about Scott singing I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For...maybe in a countryish voice heh. Maybe they can cover Desire. Just some thoughts...what about anyone else?

COMPLETELY overrated.  I only have their Achtung Baby CD, for the song "One" which is a masterpiece.

Also agree. Way overrated and the only song I can bear to listen to is One. The rest is pretty much trash in my eyes.

I'm with the other 2 guys that said the only song worth listening to is One.

And Johnny Cash's version completely rapes U2's.

Although I wouldn't really mind Scott covering that song.

Again, not a huge U2 fan - yes, Bono is a douche, well spotted!

BUT

I also don't really like The Smiths that much but think Scott's cover of Reel Round The Fountain is awesome...so maybe it could work...i don't know, i'm open to it but definitely not with STP.

I hadn't heard Reel Around The Fountain until I heard Scott's version, and it totally owns The Smiths version. By miles.

Exactly. Same as Some Things Must Go This Way. How many of you guys had heard of paloalto before Scott covered that? Exactly. i can't speak for anyone else, but that's a personal favourite now - both versions.

So maybe Scott covering bands is a good way of introducing his fanbase to bands they may not have heard before whilst putting a new spin on his favourite tunes.

I don't mind some U2 songs (With or Without You, One, couple other songs) but I can't stand Bono.  I think South Park portrayed him well in that one episode.

Haha, nice.  I opened this thread expecting to be the only one who thinks that.  Yeah, there are plenty of other bands I'd rather see STP cover.  Besides, they always did choose some great covers in the past.

Unlike most everyone else, I really love U2 and Bono.  I can't really see STP covering U2, but stranger things have been known to happen.  Now if Scott wanted to cover a U2 song in his 3rd solo album, that might work out really well.

I like Bono's music, but I'm not so big on him as a person... But on the other hand The Edge is my favorite rock guitarist next to Dean Deleo.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Bono's a tenor, so Scott might have little trouble singing U2.
