New Singles
« on: January 21, 2009, 09:07:35 PM »
If you had to release a single from each STP album, what would it be? It doesn't have to be your favorite song, just one that would be good for a single or radioplay.

Mine's like this:
Core: Crackerman
Purple: Silvergun Superman
Tiny Music: Pop's Love Suicide
No. 4: I Got You
Shangri-La Dee Da: Too Cool Queenie

Core: Crackerman
Purple: Still Remains
Tiny Music: Seven Caged Tigers
No. 4: Heaven and Hotrods
SLDD: Too Cool Queenie
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

CORE: Crackerman
PURPLE: Still Remains
TINY MUSIC: Pop's Love Suicide
NO. 4: Heaven & Hot Rods (this was hard...I couldn't really think of any other songs on No. 4 that could be singles besides the ones that were singles)
SHANGRI-LA: Dumb Love
My STP shows: 8/10/2008, 7/19/2009, 10/10/2009, 5/22/2010, 4/26/2011, 4/24/2015   Weiland solo: 1/29/2009, 11/29/2012, 3/13/2015    VR: 8/5/2007

CORE: Piece of Pie
PURPLE: Silvergun Superman
TINY MUSIC: Seven Caged Tigers
NO 4: Heaven and Hot Rods (I know this was sort-of released, but it really could have benefited from a kick-ass-balls-to-the-wall rock video and proper promotion... Could have been a real STP staple, I think), Glide
SHANGRI-LA DEE DA: Coma

Look I just want to go out sometime you know.  Like normal people, spend time together and enjoy each other's company. Like best friends.  Like lovers that care.  Who actually respect the relationship you know?"

I've heard most of these on the radio before, but I've never considered them a legit "release":

Naked Sunday

Lounge Fly

Seven Caged Tigers

Pruno

Coma

SW albums- Jimmy was a stimulator, Crash

VR albums- Let it Roll, You Have No Right

How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

Good call with Tangle.

Didnt even think about Talk Show. Did they ever have a legitmate release that they tried to promote?

I'd have to say Peeling an Orange had the biggest "Single" vibe IMO.

OK.  So even though I really do love Talk Show - I know that they're kind of a running joke around here, which is why I included them in my "singles selection."  Hee hee.

They DID have a legitimate release they promoted - I even remember seeing the video on MTV (when they played videos), believe it or not.  "Hello Hello" was the single.

But I JUST went and looked at Rik's "Band Info" section and found this under Talk Show:
Quote
Dave Coutts left the band in 1998, not long after the band released another radio promo, 'Everybody Loves My Car'. Robert, Dean and Eric reunited with Scott in early 1999 to start pre-production on STP's 4th record, 'No.4'.

I'll be damned!   :P

That's pure instinct right there! lol

You should work in a recording studio.

IMO Talk Show wasn't all bad. The vocals were decent. The part I could never get past was the fact that the lyrics sounded like they were written by 5th graders.
