Look I just want to go out sometime you know.  Like normal people, spend time together and enjoy each other's company. Like best friends.  Like lovers that care.  Who actually respect the relationship you know?"

I like the way the live version of "the man" ends more so than the studio version

I'm really digging the studio version now.  It's arguably the most catchy song on the 2 disc record.

Thank god to finally get this one.  I love it for all the right reasons.  My favorite and one I have been excited about since the first performance.  Can't wait to own these discs tomorrow.

I love the flavour of this song.

The Man I Didn't Know

Step out on the pouring rain,
Left out on the evenin' train.
I was just a little boy
Thinkin' 'bout the memories
The father that you used to be

San Jose it's a sun drenched town
Your old truck with the windows rolled down
Jerry Jeff riding high on the radio
I wanna know why you had to go

Took a plane to California, yeah
Endless summer nineteen-seventies
Telling you that you're the man
That taught me how to sing
Why did you go?
And leave me so alone, so young, so young

Tell me things that I wanna know
Now I'm a man with a family of my own
Why'd you go and leave me in the cold
With the face in the mirror of the man I didn't know

In the desert where the warm wind blows
Where'd you go when I was so alone
These California nights can be so cold
I wanna know the man I didn't know

Now I'm the one with the radio song
Wife and kids so tell me what's wrong
I need the man in my life
Who made me who I am
I don't want to lose you again

Took a plane to California, yeah
Endless summer nineteen-seventies
Telling you that you're the man
That taught me how to sing
Why did you go?
And leave me so alone, so young, so young

Tell me things that I wanna know
Now I'm a man with a family of my own
Why'd you go and leave me in the cold
With the face in the mirror of the man I didn't know

In the desert where the warm wind blows
Where'd you go when I was so alone
These California nights can be so cold
I wanna know the man I didn't know

Tell me things that I wanna know
Now I'm a man with a family of my own
Why'd you go and leave me in the cold
With the face in the mirror of the man I didn't know

In the desert where the warm wind blows
Where'd you go when I was so alone
These California nights can be so cold
I wanna know the man I didn't know

This is one song that I've been sending to people (the IMEEN site where the song is up for free) and everybody has LOVED it that I've sent it to.  Such a brilliant song, I think it's Scott's best song since Shangri LA DEE DA.

Good one. I finally listened to the double album seeing how I got it earlier in the mail. This song is easily my favorite now. Very beautiful. I love the country sound to it also. Disc 2 blew me away.

The more I listen to this track, the more it becomes a favorite of mine. Great tune.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..
