Lounge fly Lyrics
« on: August 02, 2008, 04:39:33 AM »
Ok so for the longest time I always thought that the lyrics were:

"It's ok it's ok ok relieve me"
and I have seen this on other lyric websites
but on the discography of this site it says:

"it's ok it's ok ok believe me"
which I have also seen on some websites.
So which is right? I would assume that belowempty.com would be right but I swear it does sound like "relieve me", and I'm not sure how the lyrics for the site are found so...I had to ask :)

I always thought that it was "believe".   :P  AND, that fits in if you think of the meaning and purpose of the song.  ;)

If you listen to it on your iPod with good ear buds (the sealing ones) you can hear it pretty clearly. ;D

BUT, I am by no means an expert.  :P

It should be 'relieve me'. I checked Scott's handwriting from the Purple booklet and will update the site. No clue how 'believe' me got in there, but it's been on the site like that from the start...

Thank you Rik for clearing that up. I was trying to hear "believe me" and I just couldn't hear it.

I was going to say that the cd insert says "relieve" - but Rik beat me :)
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

x2..
I've i've always thought 'RELIEVE ME' fit in better anyway. I too have seen it places where it's said "believe me" and just went.. 'Nah. doesn't sound right'

HAHA, my friend who I went to visit in San Diego for the show... she soooooooooo didn't know the lyrics to the songs, it was quite amusing as we drove along to here the freaking ones she came up with... I couldn't help but laugh.. I told her to go look at the lyrics again, must have been a while... I'll have to think of some of the ones she came up with, but they were so off the wall I can't possibly remember them. I told her PLEASE don't sing out loud at the show, I'll act like I don't know you! LOL!!!

Lounge Fly on Core
« Reply #8 on: December 16, 2008, 09:09:00 PM »
I was watching the STP Rockumentary and it had a clip showing the song list for Core that was to be recorded. Lounge Fly was included on the list, but not on the album. I know that they began playing the song during the Core era tours and Paul Leary did the end solo, but is there any reason it wasn't included on Core?

It dated as far back as the Mighty Joe Young days, just under a different name.  They might have thought it just didn't fit the record but reworked it so it would fit onto Purple, that's just my guess though.

Yeah, Spanish Fly was recorded on their demo, Lounge Fly is better though. There are a few other songs I wish they would re-record off of the demo.

He only did the end solo. The first one was Dean.

I think they made a great choice with holding on to Lounge Fly till Purple. The slide work & acoustic break really doesn't have that Core vibe to it.

I keep clicking back to the opening line and it's relieve. I always rememeber this song and the line "don't have a nickel..." when I first heard I thought Scott was making a racial slur

I'm sure when it was written it was intended to be "believe" but who knows how many versions of a song there are in recording. Maybe Dean just yells across the room..."If you wanna fuck, you wanna fuck, why don't you ask her to relieve you instead of believe you." Eric does a clever rim-shot and everyone gets a good laugh...what was just a joke has just changed the word in the song. Chords change, the tempo changes, a word here or there out of place in a song never really surprise me. Also, if you look through and read through the lyrics on core, purple and tiny music there are several questionable entries.
