I met him after a solo gig in Cincinnati...and wish i hadn't He was a f**kin' mess. Very sad.

I met him in Cleveland on that same tour - he wasn't in good shape.  He was more than an hour late to the show and very spacey when he took the stage.  He put on a great show, though, and was very sweet to us afterwards (even though it was fairly obvious that he wasn't exactly himself).  

I've posted this photo several times over the past 10 years (by that, I mean hundreds of times, lol) - but you can see very clearly that something isn't right.  His eyes are so, so far away:  Jessie and Scott, 1998.  Very sad, indeed.
