He's pretty much always been like that though.  I remember seeing them in Toledo on the Tiny music tour with Cheap Trick.  We waited at the back of the building.  We could see everyone munching on the catered food and the rest of the band was pretty cool & came out & talked while Scott stayed back and then just got on the bus.

Maybe he's got some sort of social disorder. He's great when he's got a mic, or a mega phone, in front of a large crowd, but by himself with just a hand full of people, I think he feels more under the microscope. Sounds strange, but I have a friend who loves to be the center of attention when he's at a big party or club, but the kid can't have a normal one-on-one conversation with someone to save his life. Very socially awkward. Plus, addicts almost always are dual diagnosed with other disorders. Eh, whatever. I won't wait an obscene amount of time, but if I can find the bus, fuck it, ya know? I'll at least try to snap a pic.

ive met Scott multiple times he was freakin parrot when i met him with vr he was very funny making axl jokes to the fans and really would shut upi met him in 2002 with stp and he was also very nice but when we met him back with stp on this tour he didnt wanna say hi to anyone and walked straight to the bus and THEN he came back out with his smokes he talked and evrything very slow.. lol but i think it has alot to do with bipolar disorder  or drinking , ever play a show drink and then for some reason you dont wanan keep playing ir u just wanna be alone? yeah it sucks you cant control it.
If you only knew..

I've "met" Scott twice, once in Philly (at a pre-contraband VR show) and once in New Jersey (again, with VR, at the Rock & F'n New Years Eve show).

After the VR show at the Electric Factory in Philly, I made my way out back to where the buses were. I had taken a 1'x1' VR flat poster from the wall on the inside, and when I saw Scott come out, I called for him to come over. I handed him the poster and he signed it for me, but didn't say a word. I was lucky because he didn't sign much else after that. Also, I was wearing my No.4 shirt so maybe that's why he was being 'nice' to me lol.

After the NYE show in NJ, I made my way out back again, and said hi to Scott as he came out (I didn't have anything for him to sign this time). I shook his hand, and then he got into a car and left ASAP.

I was pleased with both of these occurrences... It's more than a lot of people get out of Scott, or so I hear.

You, obviously, caught Scott on an off night.  Who knows what happened after the show.  Maybe he had a headache, maybe he was tired, maybe he was just missing his kids.  It's ridiculously unlike Scott to refuse to do autographs.

Dana Dufine personally came over and told you that "Scott doesn't do autographs?"   ::)

I don't think you talked to his manager at all.  My guess is you were told to go away by a roadie or someone working for the venue.

I've met Scott a number of times, and he was always pleased and willing to sign absolutely anything at all.  Not only that, but he was willing to stay to make sure EVERYONE got their pictures and autographs - he left no one out.
On top of that, I have his signature on everything from CD inserts to fan-drawn photos thrown on stage to a scrap of paper he ripped out of a notebook.  He's certainly not fussy about WHAT he signs.

As far as "not liking large crowds" - I've seen as many as 20 or 30 people backstage before, and he was happy to talk to and sign for all of them.

Please don't take any offense to this, because I certainly don't mean any - but were you guys yelling or shouting at him?  If the crowd was being obnoxious, you may have scared him.

Regardless, I am sorry for your misfortune after the show.  Try your luck next time - honest to goodness, I've never heard of him refusing an autograph.  He's usually a very friendly person.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

So
Quote
though venue security was telling us to go we waited

So venue security said to leave, you made a conscience decision to wait in the COLD and now blaming Scott.
Since a load of us (myself included-April 2006 outside the HRC in NY after the Camp Freddy private show) have met Scott post-shows and have been treated nothing but kind by Mr. Weiland your point is moot.

I have been semi been trying to meet him since VR. Its hard out here in Vegas, cuz they dont go to the buses after a show, they are in a casino & usually stay overnight. But I dont try to go look for his room or anything.

He was here for his record release party & he also did a interview at the radio station down the street from my house. I was told he was actually "freaked out by strangers" that day. So I chose to respect the fact he was not in a social mood that day. I could have met him at the radio station, but my resepct for him is far more important then my having a 3 second meeting with him if hes not doing that great & I know about it.

*sigh*

So Im still waiting. When its meant to happen it will.  ;)

i had a meet & greet deal with a velvet revolver show a couple years back...sorum, duff and slash all showed, but scott was MIA, dave kushner wasnt there either but i dont think anyone cared. anyway, i remember being disappointed weiland didnt show but not surprised either. what was important tho was that he put on the best live performance i had ever seen (up until i saw him again recently with stp), and that's all that really mattered, he's a brilliant musician just take him for what he is
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

I did the VR meet & greet too just because it said ALL MEMBERS would be there... BUt I found out fast from people SW was not doing them. I was not surprised, but still held out hope he would do it. Nope.

That really is not his thing anyways (M&G's) but at least I had fun & met some cool people while I was there. I made Slash laugh by being a smartass & in turn, he gave me a priceless face in my pic with the band. So it was all good.

C'mon, looking back now, OF COURSE SW would not make it that easy for me to meet him!! I remember walking by the dressing room though, and also smelling the food thery had. We got candy, chips & water & sodas... so badly I wanted to breaking into the catering & eat just SOMETHING!

Anytime I have met any famous musicians I have never asked for a "autograph". I like just the few minutes of conversation, and everyone has always been really nice to me (as long as your nice and respectful, don't act like a screaming banshee or are obnoxious). A few times I didn't even ask for a picture because it just didn't seem like the "right" time (though I mostly have). There are some people I have been around quite a few times and they have been so gracious to allow me to "hang" and would never dream to ask for a picture because just "being there" should be enough.

But sure as shit when I met Scott I sure in hell asked for a picture to capture that kodak moment  :P

Well, other then the VR boys, I have only got a pic of me & my bf with Joan Jett.

I have met famous people but it was when I was at work. And I could not ask for anything. And in my retarded chef's coat & hat I wouldn't want a pic of ME looking like that anyways. But I use to wait on & talk to all kinds of famous people.

But if I was out & about I think it would depend on the situation & mood of the person if I would ask for a picture. And I really HATE taking pix of myself, so I would only want pix with a few people.

I kick myself for not getting one with Brad Pitt a few years ago (circa FIGHT CLUB), but then again I didn't have a camera on me at the time anyways.

I'll have to tell you BG's about that one later. Funny story!! It feels so unreal to me I sometimes FORGET it really happend! Hahahaha!!

Scott does autographs.  When I met him he was signing everybody's tickets and shaking hands with everybody.  I think it was just more convenient for him since it was after an interview and not after a tiring performance.
