Still think if marketed right, Killing Me Sweetly could be a huge hit! but Tangle With Your Mind is also a solid song for a single

Making the video to "Tangle With Your Mind" is obviously for fun/for the die hard fans since it's been nearly a year since the album came out, it didn't sell great (nor was it intended to, it's independent) and making this video will not sell any more copies of it.  Only people here and other die hards who already have the album will watch the video.  The album has sold 95% of the copies it will ever sell, that is a fact.  This is not a slag on Scott/Doug/the album, it's just an underground type of album.

Also it's far too late for any song off of Happy to be a single/get played on radio.  Paralysis got zero radio airplay.  Missing Cleveland got some airplay though.  This is a niche album.

The record label is Scott's passion project, I'll bet Scott and Doug are hoping for it to be profitable but that's not the soul purpose behind it.  Also velvetloungefly I was referencing "Happy" the album in my post, not Softdrive.

Happy IS Softdrive otherwise he would just use a BIG RICH record label that would have promoted the album better.
Scott also knows that STP was in the way of Happy and he is building his label.
his solo stuff isn't a hobby lol if it was it the STP album would have been out before Happy.

I think you didn't mean it to come off the way it did Brett. But its no HOBBY, its his BABY!! And he didn't set out to sell a billion copies, he did make it for himself, but give the guy more credit then that, its not a "hobby".

Happy had been in the works for years, Doug and Scott had been recording songs as far back as 2002 I believe, the album kept getting delayed and it finally did come out last year.  It would have been impossible for STP to have an album out by November 2008, they were touring constantly from May until Halloween, there was no time to record in 2008.  The soonest STP's new album could have come out was maybe August/September had Scott not done a tour for his solo album.  Scott started writing for STP around February/March I believe, he said in an interview he started after getting back from that early 2009 solo tour.  You seem to think Scott only likes Softdrive and his solo career, he likes doing that AND STP, he has even said in interviews he loves being able to do both.  It's got to be incredibly creatively fulfilling.

Happy was done independently on Scott's own label because he wanted to help build Softdrive, we both agree on that.  My point with my post is that this "Tangle With Your Mind" video is being done for the fans/for fun, which is very nice, but it's not really "promotion" this late in the game with the record being out for nearly a year.

By hobby I did not mean insignificant, perhaps I used the word hobby incorrectly, I should have pulled out the old thesaurus.  To me hobby means something done for fun, and I'm sure doing this new video was fun.  I know Softdrive is his baby.
