I agree with Nancy.  The album does have a certain sense of urgency... of longing... of desperation.

But, I'm not John.  I don't know jack shit about the ins and outs of this sort of thing.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

Dance like a dervish...

No. 4 was rushed.  I think it's fairly evident.  The playing and composing was pretty good, but in terms of trebel alone, the album is pretty damn muffled.  Listen to anything crisp and clear (in you really need an example, listen to anything off the latest Incubus album) and then throw on Sour Girl.  It should be pretty obvious.  The No. 4 CD probably doesn't sound any different than the No. 4 tape.

I dont know why im making this:

Best STP Songs in my opinion for:

Driving Home: Interstate Love Song
Riding in an turbulant air flight at night: Crackerman
Relaxing in a Hammock: And So I know
Flying a Helicopter in downtown Miami: Days of the Week
Racing against someone down a highway: Trippin on a Hole in a paper heart
Beating the shit outta someone: Art School Girl
Having sex: Still Remains
Singing in the shower: Dead and Bloated
Convincing you friends STP is awesome: Plush
Getting in a car accident: Heaven and Hot rods
Playing live with your rock band: Unglued
Getting sold down a river: Kitchenware and Candybars
The lunatic, is on the grass.

I'm thinking that this should've been made into an entirely different thread, as it doesn't pertain in the least to the topic of this one.

I noticed that too. Everything just sounds, I dunno, squashed. It isn't so much that the songs are weak, it's the mix. Very muddy and crappy sounding.

It could probably be fixed up a bit with some serious TLC.  I'd love a shot at it.  But I'd need the master dats.  Unless studios have stopped using those hunks of shit...  Either way.  I'd need the original tracks.

I am not sure Core needs remixing the way Ten did.  By the way Pearl Jam plays live, and how their subsequent albums sounded, Ten was just not representative.  It was a grunge CD recorded in the 80's style, drenched in reverb.  Once, Alive, and Black sound SO much better on the new greatest hits.

I've noticed that about Ten too.  Ten sounds old.  Pretty Hate Machine does too.
Oh yeah, that looks much sexier on you.

why dont we repaint the sistene chapel and why were at it lets re build the effiel tower. Its better to move on than tread waters past my friends.
I have 2 copies of core, this would be a cynical operation by the record companies to bleed yet more money for same stuff polished.
Would you rather hear the next lp?
2007, 6th studio album
