Hey STPHEAD, I think you were right behind me based on those pictures. And that security guard was miserable, he looked like he didn't want to be there at all.
But like I said, the show was awesome. Finding tickets was awful... we really wanted GA seats. The guy on this thread (LoveFist) said he'd sell me two tickets, so I gave him my brother's cell. He called my brother later and said $150 a ticket. Since my brother was captain of the debate team last year in high school, he talked him down to $100 per ticket. So we thought we had a deal. LATER the guy sent him a text and said somebody said they'd pay $150 each. We both think he did that only to try and raise the price. He also claimed he got them from another person, and that's how much he paid. The whole thing reaped of scalping. Luckily I found a guy that would sell me two tickets for $95 each.... he was all the way across town but not too far from The Pearl. So I go there, get the tickets, and we're good to go. Then the other guy sends my brother another text saying "The other guy didn't show" and we could have them for a hundred each. My bro explained we already had tickets.....
So we get to The Pearl, kill time (Traffic was awful, the place was packed), and the guys sends ANOTHER text saying we could have them for $50 each. Jackass.
Billy Boy on Poison were decent enough; I met the guitarist after the show, really nice guy. It took STP about an hour to come on stage, but they finally did, and they were excellent. They talked a lot and made a bunch of jokes, they all seemed to be in great spirits and seemed really happy. Scott said that they never really won anything (Gambling wise) in Las Vegas.... he asked everybody else and Kretz said he's won a total of three dollars, then Rob took out his wallet and didn't pull anything out, and made a mention that if you kiss a rabbit between the ears you'll have good luck, and he hasn't seen a rabbit anywhere. They would jam a lot and jam after songs too, like they did for Plush and Sour Girl.
When they started to jam on Ticket To Ride and Day Tripper, Scott said they wouldn't be here without those bands. Eventually they screwed up, and Rob laughed and said that's one they haven't rehearsed. Scott said if they didn't Zeppelin, he knew he wouldn't screw up. They laughed but didn't play anything, despite the fans yelling out a lot of songs. (Several fans kept yelling "Freebird" throughout the night, both for them and Billy Boy on Poison)
Rob is my hero as I mentioned, so I kept clapping for him. During Lounge Fly he pointed to me and smiled, it was so cool. The when he played the acoustic for the bridge, I made the picking gesture, and after the song, he pointed to me and held his hand out for the pick. The girl next to me tried getting it, and a few other people, and he wouldn't give it to any of them, he MADE SURE I GOT IT. That is one of the nicest things I've ever seen anybody do; He obviously saw how much I was clapping for him and made sure I got his pick and nobody else. What an awesome guy. Then he threw his backup pick, but nobody caught it. Then (It was pitch black), I felt on the floor and picked it up. SO I got BOTH his picks.
(I also got his pick for "Hey Man, Nice Shot" during the Army of Anyone show here back in Las Vegas. Cool, eh?)
Scott later said they really enjoyed the show and he said they were glad the fans looked so happy. He danced around a lot, climbed the speakers (Pics forthcoming), and almost tripped off. It was pretty weird. Later during Down, he tripped while standing on a monitor and hit his head, and even had a mark there for the rest of the concert. Ouch.
A wonderful show, I'm glad I went through hell for tickets. Really great live band, and Rob is just awesome live. What a great guy.
