If they do put out a new album, I am just curious if it will be a "natural" continuation/evolution from Shangri-la-di-da or if they are going to try to "modernize" into the music that seems to be more popular today.  I for one hope that they will just evolve normally from where they left off.

I think they will continue from where "All In The Suit That You Wear" left off. I can see them doing something similar to Purple, with maybe some Shangri-La Dee Da "esque" ballads.

Maybe it'll be produced by Timbaland.

Dude yes. I think they should just keep going with the guy who knows how to make STP records. Unless Brendan O'Brien is no longer good at producing. Just keep away from Bob Rock and Timbaland.

I think we see a new record but not till june or july of next year. i don't think these guys are gonna rush straight into it. I think they'l take some time off and in november/decemberish they'l starting putting it together. I'm excited!

I believe I would fall in love with that album. The strongest songs on SLDD were the ballads, and Purple is awesome in every which way.

I'm skeptical we'll see anything new until Atlantic backs down with their lawsuit.
They sell their words but it\'s all a lie . . .

i agree until the atlantic lawsuit is settled nothing will be released.

and as much as i'd like to believe that there will be new material in the near future i am, somewhat skeptical. wasn't shangrala supposed to be a double album?

I think we will see new material, no question. The band seems to be having a fantastic time together. It's only a matter of time. The Atlantic legal thing may delay things, but it'll happen.

I think that for the time being the Live Album theory with one or two new cuts is what is most likely to happen here.
STP Shows: 12/12/1996 | 10/12/2001 | 05/17/2008 | 05/22/2008 | 03/20/2010 | 08/20/2010
CheSTP Shows: 04/23/2015
JeffTP Shows: 09/26/2019
Velvet Revolver Shows: 05/19/2004 | 11/21/2004 | 04/29/2005 | 08/13/2005 | 05/10/2007 (w. Slash signed Setlist) | 08/28/2007
Scott Weiland Shows: 05/10/2014 | 11/20/2015

What other bands have released live albums with new songs on them?

They're probably going to do what they've been planning to do.

Finish touring, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say their lawyers are probably already taking care of the lawsuit.

Once the tour is over, Scott will probably either promote his new album, or he and the rest of the guys will take a break for a while and start working on songs for a new album.
