My thought is that if the album had been more commercially successful that DVD would have seen the light of day. Being that it wasn't the and the band just appeared to be going through the motions live, I guess no one ever backed the editing and creation of a DVD.
Rest in Peace Mr. Weiland.

I was at that show. It was my first STP show. I stood against the barrier between the crowd and the stage, right in front of Scott. I haven't really seen it discussed very much over here.

Did anyone on this board besides me happen to go to this show? I also haven't seen any pictures of the shirts they gave out there. So I'm going to post that, and the set list.

And anyone complaining about Big Empty as the opener, obviously hasn't seen them open a show with it. Gave me chills.

Setlist:

Big Empty
Plush
Vasoline
Lady Picture Show
Big Bang Baby
Interstate Love Song
Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart

Yeah, I paid 250 dollars to see 7 songs. I also drove for 6 and a half hours to get there.

Here's the front of the shirt they gave out:

And here's the little logo that was on the back of the shirt:

It was definitely an awesome experience being one of the first people to see them live in so many years. I was in middle school when they broke up, and wasn't into music back then, so this was my first opportunity to see them.

I got to shake hands with Robert and Scott after the set when they were up on stage. I also managed to nab one of Scott's cigarettes but some bitchy man twice the size of me cried about it so I just gave it to him so he didn't freak out on me.

Now that ive witnessed Big Empty as an opener im agreeing in saying that its very good to start with something a lil slower, instead of coming out balls a blazin'(thats right) which is expected of them ... i was alos thinking how great it would be to open with Atlanta(or play it at all), maybe with only Dean and Scott

They could have Robert and Eric come out and play the last chorus of Atlanta then bust into something heavy and fast. Maybe Sex Type Thing.....

Welcome to the wonderful world of STP.  ;)

What a way to see them for your first time.  ;D

I like Big Empty as an opener.  Different and unexpected!  I didn't think I would like it, but I do.

I liked Crackerman as an opener too.  :D

The Houdini show is definitely a landmark gig in their road back. I think $250 was a little steep, but then again, you are witnessing history.

There's already a thread about this show -- no reason to start another one.  You can discuss this show futher here:

best vasoline version ever

The best part is when he yells "take it, Dean!" right before the solo.
