So they pretty much looked at Eric, Dean, and Rob and said:

"Take him. He's your problem now."
A problem that earned them a shitload of money on their 2008 tour and that will earn them even more money with their limited 2009 tour and even more on their 2010 new album tour.

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07
Scott Weiland Shows: 12/14/08, 12/8/11

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I've said it a million times before but Scott was the only exciting thing about Velvet Revolvers music, for the most part their music is very very generic with the exception of a few of the slower tracks. I want NEW music from STP!
Nothing matters again, I didn\'t think we\'d last that long

The thing about VR I didn't like was the music just seemed emotionless, when Dean plays his guitar it almost sounds as if he is speaking or expressing his feelings (Robert too) and I never felt that way about VR.  It all was just OH YEAH LET'S MAKE LOUD ROCK N ROLL MAN WE'RE SO ROCK N ROLL LOOK AT MY LEATHER JACKET AND MY TOPHAT!

agree with you. VR's music always felt like a mailed in effort. The music was good at times and the playing was always solid, but there was no real sincerity to it besides Scott.

Yeah I mean listen to any VR song and then listen to the playing in Bi Polar Bear, it just comes straight from the heart.  It's why STP is my favorite band and why jumped up and down when VR broke up.

Personally I don't agree with that. I think Slash is an amazing guitar player and he is good at playing emotional stuff too, just listen to GNR's Estranged for instance. He did good on You got no right and loving the alien too imo.

Pretty crazy to say that the stuff sounds emotionless... ALL their music was already written before Scott even came in, and to say Slash isn't playing with any emotion is even funnier since his style of playing is talking guitar..Dean and Slash are completely different but if you like Dean more of course you're gonna think he plays with more this and that, i like both Dean is more Page and Slash is more Clapton.
If you only knew..

I'm not shit talking all of Slash's playing.  He had tons of emotion and passion in his playing with GNR but a lot of VR songs just sound like usual rock radio cock rock.  Scott himself even had some shitty songs lyrically on Libertad.
