This show was announced on STP's official website on Feb. 27:

Even though there's no venue officially announced, in previous years the KQRC RockFest was held at Liberty Memorial Park:

I'd be a very happy man if they canceled this date and/or supplemented this date with a solo show at Sandstone or the Sprint Center.
I've never gone to Rockfest (or any other local festival) due tot he fact that I figured I would have to stand through hours of Godsmack and Drowning Pool just to get an hour of the band I really wanted to see.

I really want to make it to this show.  I'm only 4 hours away and have tons of friends in the KC area, so it's a definite possibility.  I just need to figure out how much it's going to cost and whether that cost is worth sitting through 10 shitty bands first.
Sometimes you just have to step back, put things in perspective, and think, "Well, at least I can l look forward to hell."

I am thinking about going to this concert, but I don't know the price or whether or not I want to drive or ride 694 miles for an hour of entertainment.

Is St. Louis any closer? It will be a FULL set, not a festival greatest hits set.

I was on the fence about this, and now the lineup is out and STP is literally the only band playing that I have any interest in seeing whatsoever.  Trapt? Sevendust? Saliva?
Looks like it's time to see if I can arrange a trip to Colorado Springs this summer to see the in-laws and head over to Denver and see the show at Red Rocks.  I can't sit through
a series of nu-metal abortions just for an hour of STP, and that is coming from someone that loves STP and has never seen them live.

Sevendust is the fuckin shit. The are AWESOME live. One of the best live bands out there. (Nice guys too) They give STP a run for their money in that department.

Never EEEEEEEEEEVER put Sevendust in the same category with shlock like Trapt and Saliva.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Yea since their isn't a seperate one for the St. Louis show I'll post it in here or at least I didn't see one. Anyways being only an hour from Chicago me and my buddies were gonna go to the May 22nd show but couldn't because of his lil bro, he had exams so we decided to do St. Louis...well we got our tickets and realized the show started at 2 so we're like what the hell thats weird. So when we got back to my house we looked up the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater's homesite and seen that Saliva and Chevelle along with some other badass bands but it's still all about seeing STP...I've waited soooo long!!!!! (wow it's been a while since I posted anything on this forum!)

I found this online - my google fu is strong tonight.  :P  It looks good! ;D

http://backtorockville.typepad.com/back ... eview.html

Stone Temple Pilots were perfect Rockfest headliners. Reunited after a five-year hiatus, their decadent rock was infused with new vitality in their ninety-minute performance. It was exhilarating hearing the quartet's grungy catalog infused with fresh enthusiasm and renewed conviction.

From the opening song "Big Empty" it was evident that the quartet wasn't just going through the motions.

Front man Scott Weiland, infamous for his troubled personal life, was as wonderfully weird as ever. He seemed to be having fun, goosing outstanding guitarist Dean DeLeo, celebrating drummer Eric Kretz's 41st birthday and dancing with a megaphone.

He warmly acknowledged the fans' chant of "STP."

"We love hearing that even more than you love hearing our tunes," he said. "But we know the real reason you're doing that- we spiked your beer!"

Songs that had seemed permanently played out, like "Sex Type Thing" and "Interstate Love Song," were entirely reinvigorated.

It was cool that they got to play in front of 50,000 people.
