Hopefully there's only one band opening for them at the non-festival shows...
And hopefully the band(s) are good...
I find some shows with 2 or 3 opening bands to drag too much...

I live southeast of Houston, so if they come to The Woodlands, I'm absolutely going to be there.  My concern at this point is that the official stonetemplepilots.com website doesn't list a concert in The Woodlands, and some of the dates conflict with what is posted on belowempty.com.  I certainly hope that there will be more shows in Texas than just Dallas and Corpus Christi.  I guess I'll wait and see.  But I'd rather buy a ticket to one (or both) of those shows than hold out for something in the Houston area and end up getting stuck with nothing.

Dude, they're coming here! Did you get your ticket yet? Wife & i are buying ours on Friday...

I enjoy Frank Black, but I enjoyed Black Francis way more when the Pixies were around. The Pixies are a better band than STP could ever hope to be.

So I'm excited, even though he isn't opening at the Las Vegas show....

I don't remember ever hearing Scott hating NY, I've gone to many a gigs there and he always loved it with STP, they put on amazing setlists in the clubs, etc... I'm hoping the gap is left open and then filled in with a few end of tour NYC Club Gigs.. that would be great.
My only exit is a one way out...

yea...he normally gets busted there. I remember hearing him talk about NYC on a '98 or '99 stern show appearance.

Frank Black is great!! he's very talented, I'm a huge Pixies fan, however I always thought that the breeders were much better than frank black but lately i've been listening to some of his records, and they're actually pretty good: show me your tears, honeycomb, and, pistolero. I always liked his first three albums but after those I thought he went too folk, and now I'm digging that folk side of him. well whatever, whoops, almost forgot it, he released an album called bluefinger using his Pixies name, Black Francis, that is such a great record, totally Pixies sound!

An odd pairing, but I love Frank Black (check out his first two solo records, and his early work with the Catholics).

Pitchfork is completely 'indie' and blasts most mainstream bands.  In a review for Tiny Music, they gave it a 0.8 out of ten (Yeah that's right, a 'point' eight)

On the positive side, they gave 12 Bar Blues a 7.8

Yeah, I somewhat disagree with a lot of Pitchfork's stuff. What they priase some bands on is what they hate other bands on.

That said, they are a huge factor in music today. Honestly, reviews from them can really make or break bands and have a lot of weight in music interest.

When I saw VR at the Hammerstein on New Year's Eve, he had a plain white shirt that read "I hate it here".  I guess it could have been a general statement about life at that time.  Or a total joke.  But judging by his luck there in the past, i know I'd hate it there.

I've heard a few bands.  BRMC, Secret Machines and most surprisingly, Francis Black (Frank Black's alter-ego).  With Scott workig with Steve Albini, he may havedeveloped a connection to Frank Black
