Seriously though, who is STP supposed to fit in with nowadays? We can't bring all these 90s bands out of retirement. They have always been mismatched with other bands on the same bill for years now.

Well said man. Remember the Family Values tour in Chicago? Ugh.

The Family Values tour was like my worst nightmare come true, except that STP was there to save me after the horror.

Static-X, Linkin Park and Staind?  I wanted to blow my brains out.  Until our boys got out there and graced the stage.

Actually - it wasn't that horrible.  I was one of the fortunate few that got to hear "Bi-Polar Bear" live (only been played live once) AND saw Scott play guitar.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

I'm still looking for a boot of that show... :(
Actually, I thought Static-X was really entertaining, it's just that the crows was not an STP crowd....
It hurt the show for them and of course if you were there you know that Weiland was obviously having a manic attack that day as evident by his whipping of the mic, blatant screaming into the mic and so on and so forth.
Still it was a memorable show and I'd love to land a copy of it. -fingers crossed-

Indeed. I liked the other bands though. So to me it didn't really matter so much. But to other die-hard STP fans, I know they were bored sitting through the rest of the night.

Static-X is very entertaining. I was at a show of theirs once and no alcohol was being served. So the lead singer Wayne Static was doing shots of cough syrup. Hehe.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

OK.  Since you admitted it first, I'll come clean.

I still have my Docs, too.  And I also refuse to throw them out and wear them from time to time.  lmao

Haha... Awesome.

Nothing to admit for me, as I proudly wear 'em. My oldest pair has been modified a bit; I snipped off the AirWair loop and colored the yellow stitching black.

Oh c'mon. They were just trying to have some fun. Lighten up a little.

The best STP tour has always been their 1996 run w/ Local H. Oh & look, they have a new album out. http://www.flashenhanced.com/localh/ | They would be the perfect companion. If only it would happen.

Of course, I might be biased - being a huge Local H fan, but those Nov/Dec 96 shows were INCREDIBLE, and anyone who was lucky enough to see that tour knows what I am talking about.

The reason I went to Rock On The Range was to see Stone Temple Pilots. I was determined to get to the front so I had to battle and fight my through the crowd during Staind, 3 Doors Down, and Disturbed. I got kicked in the face multiple times from crowd surfers during Disturbed which I wasn't to happy about haha.

But when STP came on I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them. It was def surreal. They all sounded great and tight. Besides the minor flaws it was amazing. Scott is the man and larger than life when he is on stage. Dean was right this is home for them.

Man, you must have been dedicated to stay through two day worth of getting kicked in the face... (just giving you a hard time, 3DD was on Sunday, not Saturday)

I was there both days, and was there not solely for STP but if they werent there i wouldnt have either. Actually I really wanted to see 10 years and Flyleaf which sucked that they cancelled

I honestly hate Disturbed now because of the crowd during that set, people were crowd surfing when they werent even playing a song it was absolutely ridiculous. I guess thats a product of the fairs, half the people were infants when Core came out

I have some pretty good pics i was like 20 people back or so, ill have to send them in to the website

Big Empty was crazy to hear for the intro, I wish they did an actual acoustic set...loved to hear lounge fly, Crackerman was amazing, and of course there is nothing better then Trippin

For the first show back in front of that type of crowd I have to admit I was nervous but they were on their game.

Now deciding what other show(s) i want to go to....

This chick showed her tits numerous times:

that girl was so annoying that the dudes we were with were finally fed up and started trying to hit her with bottles.

she did the same thing the next day - we had seen them all the previous night - put 'em away already.

haha yeah your rite 3DD was on sunday thanks for giving me a hard time i forgot. But now that I think about it...Disturbed, Kid Rock, Sevendust, Finger Eleven, and a few others put on real good shows. But in the end STP was the reason I went. Wish I could have seen Filter but I was in the midst of trying to get to the front for STP, haha yes I was determined. This and tuesday's were the two concerts i was looking forward to of about 15 Im going to this summer. Obvi since STP is my favorite haha

I will probably go to ROTR next year if the lineup is good soley because I had such a great weekend with my buddy's
