I am a bit surprised by this, cause of the choice of the single.
I read that article yesterday where I guess they wrote this song (as well as the others) pretty damn fast and Patrick was like we need something more up tempo, since the rest of the record is more middy.
Personally, 'Goodbye' is possibly one of the worst songs I have ever heard that is associated to these guys. It is in the same boat as 'Days of the Week' for me, because you really CAN tell how fast they wrote it; It was almost like they wanted a more upbeat song and just wrote it for the the hell of it. I feel like it's a bunch of songs pieced together and the vocals kill me.
In saying this the first song on the album 'It Doesn't Seem to Matter' is pretty upbeat and if they wanted to choose a single that provided this feel, I think the band could have been marketed better. In saying this, none of us should be surprised by the choice of the single here; as for years this band, these guys just have an unbelievable sense for what I think are poor first single choices.
I still think Velvet Revolver would have opened themselves up to a much wider audience had Slither stayed in the CD. I still skip that song to this day. Superhuman still kicks my ass everytime I listen to it.
I will admit one thing about AOA, Patrick's vocals on a few of the songs have grown on me a bit, but the rest of the time he makes me want to put a jackhammer inside my ear.
I haven't heard the single at all here in LA, nor have I seen any promotion outside of the Virgin Megastore thingy.
