Dude. I just noticed Son is on there. Odd.

I literally spit out my milk when I heard the BBB cover. God awful.

Another thing. An acoustic version of Unglued is just wrong.

You can listen to more of the song in the guy website, track 18 http://briancolburn.com/home/
Don't know how I got there...

Some are good, some are horrible and some are forgettable
Sex Type Thing is the worst cover.

I wish I could find where we discussed this album elsewhere on the forum because I remember talking about each tune and what I thought. The Spiralarms do Glide, which is a band Eric played drums with briefly. That's probably the best cover. Dead & Bloated is decent too, definitely has some balls. I'd say that Heaven & Hotrods, Unglued, Sex Type Thing and BBB are completely un-listenable. Just horrid. Ugh. Awful.

It's funny to me that STP requires such standout vocals to emulate, but so many of these bands rolled with mediocre singing. Just doesn't work.

HAHAHA. Now that's just funny. And true.

I want to thank loungefly for posting this simply for the fact it made for a huge LOL! I agree with the previous post. I think my favorite cover out of all of this is Glide from SpiralArms. They do the song justice plus I think they are a legit band. Maybe Dead and Bloated is ok. The others to me sound like a bad kereoke session. Lady Picture Show was funny and they put a cheesy twist to it. Big Bang Baby....wow. Sour Girl sounds like it's directly from the Glee soundtrack. I'll just stop there.  :-X

Has anyone else seen this?

http://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Garden-Mil ... 00&sr=1-12

I'd be curious to here it, since there are some STP tunes that I've never heard covers of before.

We've had a thread on this "album" for like a year.

I don't know what's sadder, the fact that this atrocity actually exists, or the fact that Amazon's actually sold enough to have only 1 left in stock.

EDIT: anyone read the one review?

(five stars) Motor Devil rocks!, August 28, 2009 By    STP fan (New York, NY) -
This CD just came out and I couldn't wait to check it out. The first track, "Wicked Garden", is an effective, rocked-up remake, but the BEST track is "Big Bang Baby" by new band MOTOR DEVIL. This hot version is an amped up hard rock version of the original (also a good one) and the vocals are especially strong. Sometimes you just need to buy a CD for the one or two gems within, and Wicked Garden: A Millennium Tribute To Stone Temple Pilots is one of them!

*shudders*
Grab the hate and drown it out...

I'm guessing that review was written by someone from Motor Devil.

I'd didn't hear anything incredible offensive from the Amazon Preview (aside from Big Bang Baby). I think the vocals sound amateur due to poor placement in the mix more than plain ole bad singing.

Wow, Chris Poland plays on Crackerman?  Badass!  Although I'm not quite sure what to think of the song clip.

Agreed, Chris Poland is an incredible musician. I have stuff of his from Megadeth, Damn The Machine & OHM - all simply sublime.   8)

I think the posts above nail it though - this one is not even for collectors.

Man, I forgot how bad those covers were. They usually try way too hard to sound like Scott (and fail miserably).

I thought the piano version of Sour Girl was a nice touch though.
That was the only half way decent one. I googled her (whatever her name was - I forgot already - Minnie Something) and she has the entire song on her myspace page.

Anything for your amusement. I wasn't sure if it was posted or not before. I know there have been some other tribute albums, but I didn't recall this one.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

I've only owned two in my lifetime. One was a tribute to Aerosmith played by mostly members of old hair bands. Another one was the industrial tribute to Metallica. The Blackest Album I think it was called. That one was interesting. But beyond that, I've stayed away from those albums too.

What about Encomium?
