Versailles Records has announced that it is seeking submissions from Stone Temple Pilots and Buckcherry fans for an original album cover design for the label's forthcoming summer releases, 'Wicked Garden: A Millennium Tribute to Stone Temple Pilots' and 'Lit Up: A Millennium Tribute to Buckcherry'.

Collectively, these tributes will feature current/former members of Black Sabbath, Racer X, Kiss, Europe, Megadeth, Badlands, Alice Cooper Band, Lizzy Borden, Fuel, Surgical Steel, Bonham, Mountain, Circle Jerks, Slash's Snakepit, Metal Church, Warrant, Dokken, Steelheart, Michael Shanker Group, L.A. Guns, White Lion, Machine Head, Ratt, WASP, Quiet Riot, and others.

Interested fans should email Versaillesrecords2006@yahoo.com with a brief synopsis of the cover concept they have in mind prior to submitting any art, and include some kind of myspace or related portfolio web link. A final decision will be made on the official album cover selections this April.

now when they say "current/past members of" I'm guessing they're probably talking about touring members that no one cares about.

or are we gonna hear Ozzy Osbourne sing STP?
I think Ronnie James Dio is far more likely  :'(

RJD would be awesome.  Unfortunately, I'd put my money on it being Tony Martin instead.  Ugh.

First of all, I'm praying that the Creed comment WAS a joke, because aside from the fact that they are no longer a band (I would argue that they never really were), they're not fit to clean up the arenas that STP plays in, let alone have the chance to murder one of their songs.
Second, isn't the idea of a tribute album usually that newer bands who were influenced by/grew up on the music have a chance to show their appreciation?

This isn't the first of these tribute albums I've seen with these artists. I had an Aerosmith one, and it featured members of Quiet Riot, Steelhart, LA Guns, and other bands from the 80s. I think there is a series of them.

I find it ironic that some of these guys (well, most) are from the hair metal/power metal era, and the 'grunge' era that STP first came about wiped these guys off the face of the earth.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

One of the posters on there summed up my thoughts on it:

it's like "alright let's get the replacement guitarist from poison, jani lane's replacement, dizzy reed, and a few other no name replacement d-bags and record a tribute," i doubt stp even has anything to do with this garbage. this is a huge waste, like buying a cover band's cd. what's the point? if they wanted to make a decent tribute they'd get artists people have actually heard of, like the led zep tribute cd encomium.

Or that Stone Immaculate tribute to the Doors.

Alice in Chains would be a good choice for a song from 'Core'.

I've seen members of message boards put out their own tribute cd.  That would be cool if this site would do the same.  In other boards, there is usually one person who takes on the project and members who wish, submit their recording.  Then, the compilation is compiled and put out for board members only.
Like I have been saying, I'm new here so maybe this has been done...I think it's a cool touch though.

those were both great albums (Doors tribute and Encomium). I wish there were more out there. Pearl Jam playing an STP cover would make for the ultimate irony :)
