New Single and/or New Album Announcement Date Coming December 2nd

It’s interesting to hear that there will be additional instruments on this album like cello, viola, sax and the flute! This will definitely be something different from STP and at this stage in their career that’s not a bad thing. I honestly found songs like ‘Roll Me Under’, ‘Fast As I Can’ and most of their other ‘rock’ songs from the last ten years to be rather mundane, obviously there were a few exceptions but they have been shining more on the slower stuff post AOA for sure.
Judging from the article posted above the album is finished as it has some detailed descriptions of various songs, shame we have to wait until February!

I totally agree with the assessments that the ballad tracks on the first album with Jeff were better than the first single off this acoustic album. However it seems the reason was the instrumentations were better as far as fitting into the scheme of the entire album. This opening track I believe is part of a build up for the rest of the album. However as far as Jeff's vocal performance it is impeccable. They seem to just gel so we'll together as a band right now. I just hope they do the tour and then get back into the studio and knock out a heavy album by next year.

it's familiar because Scott and Jeff have allot of similarities to their voices and the rest of the guys help right the melodies as well.

I think the new song is fantastic. I really dig the crossover/country vibe... And I personally don't see any noticeable decline in quality from the ballads from Butterfly. In fact, my first inpression listening to it is that it's the best single the band has released since the reunion.

Production wise, I think this is the best sounding the band has been in a long while. I think moving production out of Rob's basement and into Kretz' studio really paid off.

I really like the new song, especially now listening to it on good speakers through Apple Music.  Sounds unlike anything STP has done before, yet it still sounds like STP (like all their previous releases).

I also like the female backing vocals.  Am I right in thinking this is a first for STP (the use of female backing vocalists)?

I'm really looking forward to this, but I'm also hoping "getting the ballads out of there system" will lead to a true rocker for the next record. For a band who plays 90% hard rock at their shows, it's been way to long since we got a heavy album out of them.

lol i said the same over at stp everlasting fb fan page but deleted my comment. I didnt want anyone to get upset. But i agree. Ill see if theres anything for me when the new album is released but im hoping for an all out heavy rock record in a few years. Ill support the boys whatever they release but i just like loud guitars and an occasional acoustic.

Definitely excited for this album.  Gutt does have an amazing voice.

this! Scott isnt replacable but the boys couldnt have picked a better singer. Jeff has an amazing voice. He can hit all the deep and high notes with perfection.

I actually adore the ballads myself, so this is the kind of album I've always wanted them to do. But the same time I think they are WAY overdue for a proper rock album... So hopefully they nail this, and then go and do a hard album so we can have the best of both worlds.

I kind of thought that the new single was good-but-not-great at first, but it's growing on me, really pretty song. Got front row seats for the Boston show, should be awesome.

I always loved STP's acoustic songs so I'm real excited about this new Cd & acoustic tour. I hope they put some songs in the set like "Hello It's Late", "Wonderful" from the Shangri- La Dee Da CD.
