I'm actually really digging this album. It's very different for him and I don't think I'd want him to continue on this stylistic path forever but I like it for now. It's the type of album that I call "Wonderfully Weird." It's almost like a musical version of "steampunk" in that it's very high-tech for Jack but most of the elements that are chopped up and put together are still vintage sounding guitars and keyboards and retro musically. Even the electronic parts sound somehow vintage. Again, I don't think I'd want him to keep this up indefinitely, but as a weird little experimental foray, it's cool. Kind of like his 12 Bar Blues or McCartney 2 (weird album if you haven't heard it.)
And at least you can't accuse him of doing it to be more commercial. It's weird as f#ck!
