Update: new main/splash/landing page on http://www.belowempty.com/

Still needs some minor fixes for mobile, but it's good to go.

Looks good Rik!

Most of you will be happy to hear that these changes will keep me from visiting this site again. Thank you rik for hosting the party, I’ve been here in one capacity or another for more than a decade. Thank you and goodbye

Rik,
I absolutely applaud your changes.  Out of the deep respect I have for you I have generally avoided criticizing your previous stance on the site (I had an especially high level of distaste for the naming of a 'Dean, Robert and Eric + singers other than Scott Weiland' subforum) but I've always felt this was very out of character for you. Since Chester's arrival, BE has operated in this passive-aggressive space that set the wrong tone, one I am sure was not your intention.  I understand and share your deep love for SW, but YOU are the home and the base of STP on the internet.  It was always my hope that you would someday properly enable the fanbase, both new and old members, to properly connect.  The changes to the forums accomplish that goal and I am still proud to have you as our fearless leader.

I too long for STP's glory days, but unfortunately it was apparent LONG before Scott's death that those days were gone and were never coming back.  However, with these changes we can continue to celebrate STP's past accomplishments and usher in a new era which will certainly be different, but which will hopefully provide a level of enjoyment for the fans.  Its important to remember the road this band (and its fans) have been on, but I sincerely hope this fan base can leave the tumultuous history of this band in the past and help usher in a new era for these artists that we love.

Peace, Love, and new music
-A

Looks great Rik, many thanks for all the work you put in on the website.

I especially like the change to the home page. Seeing STP's death date of 2012 never felt right to me. To me this feels like the third chapter of nearly a 30 year old band.

Rik: thank you for everything over the years; you have kept this community together. It’s unreal that it has been nearly 20 years of Below Empty.

Here is to new beginnings for the band and their fans!

Glad to see these changes. I get that it's still hard for a lot of fans... It's a tough situation for all fans, myself included, but it's the reality and better to embrace it then deny it.
Grab the hate and drown it out...

Overhauling http://www.belowempty.com/bandinfo.php right now. I'll keep the page live as I edit and add things.

Request:  I know you added HTTPS functionality to the site, but it is not native.  I have to manually type 'https://www.belowempty.com' to get a secure connection, as opposed to automatically going to HTTPS 100% of the time regardless of typing 'https://'

Also if I enter the HTTPS site manually  and then click on one of the shortcut links to a forum post it switches back to unsecure HTTP.

Much appreciated if this can be remedied.

Thanks Rik

This should be fixed now.
