Purple 25-th Anniversary release? (2019)

Are STP going to release something special as they did for "Core"?
"Purple" is a great album too. It was also a huge success for band.
STP went to arenas and stadiums with this album while its singles, one after another, occupied the top of the charts.
As you see, it was a truly great time.
So it would be worth to make a special anniversary re-release, probably with remaster, demos and concert recordings (how it was done with "Core").

Of course it is up to band and we can't demand anything...

But I dream about such kind of reissue. It would be literally great and fair.
"Purple" deserves appopriate amount of attention.

For example - I read here on this forum that the band during "Purple" era intended to make a VHS-release of a well known Worcester 1994 show... (you may see cameras around band on stage during the show)
 As we know, it has never seen the light of day. So probably the time has come for it now? In HD or Blu-Ray. It would be very cool.

Let's dream together about an anniversary re-issue of "Purple" and share our thoughts of what would it be like!

I've droned on about this before, but Blu Ray release of Worcester would be a holy grail for me. From what I can tell the show was recorded on film, and the whole show appears to already have been miced by Brendan... So it's just a matter of them scanning it in HD.

My expectation for a 25th release for Purple, if they do it, would be something like this:

Disc 1: Original Album Remastered

Disc 2: Demos

Disc 3: Live from Worcester, MA

If they wanted a fourth disc they could throw KROQ Almost Acoustic XMAS 1994 in there, but I'm concerned that microphone feedback in the recording might stop them from using it.

I don't see them doing a surround mix for it, since they just reused the 2000 mix for Core, and there really are no B-sides to speak of for Purple.

Maybe that concert they filmed? Some of it is on the Thank You dvd.

Also, hope they can work thru the red tape to include their unreleased KISS cover and put Dancing Days on there too.
Cant think of any other studio recordings from the era that are unreleased but maybe there are some gems that we’ve just never heard of.

Like I've said before, it looks like Worcester was recorded on film so they would just need to do an HD scan of the original film negatives to do a Blu Ray release, and then possibly re-edit and sync it to the audio. Whether STP ad Rhino/WMG is willing to go through that effort is the question. Would love to see it, but not holding my breath.

Of course it sounds cocky and I'm sorry for that, but can we somehow find out does the band remember about filming that show? Probably someone who is in touch with band can remind Eric, Robert & Dean about that video recording or ask a question.  If that could help.
It will be very sad if "Purple" 25-th anniversary doesn't get such amount of attention from the band as "Core".

I'm with you there. Purple is a great record but No. 4 is so varied and diverse, I'd love to see how it came to be. Particularly songs like Atlanta and I Got You, both so different for STP and yet both so beautiful. To be a fly on the wall during the hours they sunk into that album would be an experience.

disc 1 - Purple remastered
disc 2 - demos / b-sides / outtakes / other stuff
disc 3 - live show audio (for example show in Netherlands, 1 november 1994, has good quality)
disc 4 - Worcester show blu-ray video

My favorite album! I truly hope they will do a similar release as the Core 25th package. That woulde be awesome.

I too have been wondering about a re release of purple. I honestly could see this one getting some love along with core that just happened...


Beyond purple I’d have to see if Vegas could run the odds for any other album to get a re visit.


Since most of the radio love has been with purple and core I see those being he ones to highlight.
