Tiny Music: I know this is blasphemy on here, but I'm not crazy about And So I Know.

4: MC5, maybe the worst STP song of all time

SLDD: Bi Polar Bear is trash

Hmmmm.

Core: Gotta admit, I've never been a huge fan of Creep. It's ok, though.

Purple: oof. Army Ants I guess?

Tiny Music: I know this is blasphemy on here, but I'm not crazy about And So I Know.

4: MC5, maybe the worst STP song of all time

SLDD: Bi Polar Bear is trash

S/T: Definitely Cinnamon

I like the honesty, but this is:  :o :o :o
Hr308: "Cuatro, i nearly did this because 5 g's is nothing to me."

Vaporized - "I can confirm that it's neither Gutt or Borja."

Missed this until now, great topic though.

Core - Where the River goes, pretty much agree 100% with the other reasons mentioned althought I was VERY close to voting for D&B because that song just drags on WAY longer than it should.
Purple - Pretty Penny.  One of the few STP songs I've never liked
Tiny Music - I think this album is perfection, but if you're making me pick- Art School Girl
No. 4 - MC5.  Honestly, I think its a terrible song by STP standards.  Strikes me as lazy.
SLDD - A Song For Sleeping.  Feels out of place as an STP song and its a little too "on the nose" about its topic (Noah).
S/T - Fast as I Can.

I love A Song for Sleeping, but I can see how many would think it doesn't belong on SLDD. It's undeniably STP (not just Scott solo), but maybe they should have released it separately.

Definitely has the DeLeo touch in the guitars, and it would have been amazing to see a live acoustic version with both Dean and Rob on guitar.... But it still feels more like a b-side than an album track, especially considering Samba Nova or About A Fool could have been on the album instead.

I think I posted this awhile back, but this is the track listing I feel in hindsight SLDD should have had:

  • Coma
  • Dumb Love
  • Days of the Week
  • Hollywood Bitch
  • Wonderful
  • Hello It's Late
  • Too Cool Queenie
  • Regeneration
  • Bi-Polar Bear
  • Transmissions From a Lonely Room
  • Samba Nova
  • Long Way Home

What happened to Black Again? Not a fan? Personally, I love that song and feel it goes great on the album.

Actually, it's one of my personal favorites of their entire catalog. I just felt like the album is too ballad heavy as it is, and as much as I love Black Again it's probably the easiest to cut without shortening the album too much since it's only 3:30 or so.

Core- Naked Sunday
Purple- Pretty Penny
Tiny Music- Ride the Cliche
No 4- MC5
Shangri- BiPolar Bear
STP- Peacoat

Core - Naked Sunday
Purple - Damn. Toss up between Pretty Penny and Army Ants.
TM - Ride the Cliche
No4 - Toss up between Pruno and MC5. I have stated for YEARS that Pruno has been my least favorite STP track, but it's been growing on me strangely since I've been spinning the vinyl.
SLDD - Toss up between Black Again and Regeneration. I would be down for replacing them with About a Fool and Samba Nova.
s/t - Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I rarely listen to this album anymore, which is sad. The only tracks I listen to on a regular basis are Cinnamon, Maver, and First Kiss On Mars. It seems that it is the opinion of many on this board that it doesn't stack up to the rest of the catalog, and it's true. You need ALL of the band members in the room in order to create magic, IMO. Anywho, I guess I'll go with Peacoat.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Looks like a lot of us agree "Army Ants" is the worst song off Purple.

I can agree it has dumb verses. But choruses aren't bad. And the guitar solo is even better! Dean's solo is really good.

Core - No Memory
Purple - None
Tiny - Press Play
No.4 - Church on Tuesday - bit repetitive for my likes..
Shangri -  Wonderful or A Song for Sleeping ...zzzz
S/T - Dare If You Dare, Cinnamon, Fast As I Can, First Kiss On Mars .. can't decide which one is the worst of the bunch

Wow. Whenever I listen to pruno I always remember you as the member who could not stand this track haha. That is cool that it's coming around now. Honestly it keeps getting better for me too. I was ok with the tune for the longest time, but I really like certain areas of the song once it gets rolling.  8)
