WEILAND'S BUG-EYE SUNGLASSES
« on: March 21, 2016, 05:04:16 PM »
Does anyone know the brand of sunglasses that Weiland wore in the early STP days -- black, round, looked like bug-eye glasses?

Those were bitchen' glasses and he made them look really cool. I don't know what kind they were though. I do remember reading that, years ago (90's) he used Murray's Pomade in his hair! Random Scott factoid....

Had the time of my life in between. Thank You Scott

Are you talking about these sunglasses?

Unfortunately I don't see any markings on the sides in any photos, so I can't tell the brand. It looks like the lenses are too square to qualify as 'bug eye' sunglasses, but they have wrap around style sides.

With how flat they are on the front, and how wide the sides are, it almost looks like 'fitovers'... sunglasses that are made to fit over prescription glasses.

That's a great shot...but no, it's a different pair.
Here's a video where you can see them...several times. But the first is at 0:33

Don't know the brand.
Sunglass trends change pretty frequently.
But these look like 70's mod disco glasses.
And with that said, I wouldn't put it past Scott to wear a women's pair.

Not saying these are, but he could pretty much pull off anything and wear it well.

Oh, I see.

You say 'early STP days' and I think Core/Purple era.

That definitely looks like the glasses in the first photo.
But I'm looking for the bug-eye glasses in this video:

I agree, these are probably women's sunglasses. Perhaps some of the ladies here will give us their opinion.

I am very jealous.  Arguably the best show they've ever played.  Definitely in top 5.

If it's a woman's pair, the style are called Jackie O's & the closest brand would be the original Traction P711 Sunglasses

I think they could be Christian Roth 6558s. They were made in the 80s and popular in the 90s, and Kurt Cobain had a very similar pair with white frames:

And here's a pair in black:
