STP singer submission thread
« on: March 17, 2016, 03:18:40 PM »
I've been trying to listen to anyone that has posted their submissions but it's a little hard to keep track of them all in separate threads.  So if you would like, please post them in here so they are in one spot.

Here is one STP and one of my originals I sent in.  I'm aware I have no chance in hell but it was a lot of fun trying to record the vocals for these songs and brought back so many memories singing to them over the years in the car.  So I said what the hell and uploaded.  But in the end.. I just miss Scott.

FWIW I thought the intro and solo came out GREAT on Trippin.  ;D

Cheers!

Very cool renditions gentlemen. Good idea for a thread too.

Here's my take on "Vasoline". I sang it a little cleaner on the verses. Didn't want to sound just like Scott.

Here's mine:     https://www.youtube.com/user/davidssimpson2012

I have to admit, I was absolutely floored by these. By far the best submissions I have heard. You hit all the notes right, but didn't at all sound like a Scott clone. And you managed the backing harmonies perfectly, too... Not many people are doing that.

I tend to usually agree with Blue's opinion and this time is no different.  Your auditions are very good, probably my favorite of all the ones I have listened to.  Your "trippin..." is a little over processed and I dont like how you dont hold the note when singing "lies....." in Interstate Love Song, but those are VERY minor complaints.  Great work and good luck to you!

Semi-related side note (not directed to David specifically), but I hope whoever gets the job decides to have more of an online presence.  That is something that STP has always sorely lacked.  More communication with the fans would be a great step forward for the band, and I think this is an area where a younger guy could bring a lot to the band.

Thanks Aaron !  If I get the job, I'll do my best to sing the sings more accurately and hang out in the chat rooms a little more.   ;-)

If you guys dig the demos, please share !

Best DSS.

BTW, I'm sorry if I came across as a jerk.  Just two little things I noticed, please dont take them to heart, because it is absolutely nitpicking.  Your audition is very good!  Again, good luck to you!

I take it no one's heard anything back yet from STP? I guess it could take a while, once they pump their way through the 11,000+, then they have to go back through the couple hundred that are serious, and actually really listen to those. I've heard so many ones with potential lately, it's gotta be a hard job to do.
Here's mine:

No worries Aaron - I took no offense at all.

Wow, that's some good stuff. Are you playing the instruments, too?

Hi Blue - Yes, I play instruments.  by trade I'm a bass player - since 9 years old. Singing since I was 10.

On the demos you heard, I played bass, rhythm guitars, organ, and vocals.

Locally I perform in a 3 piece playing bass and singing.

Just listened to "Forgiven", you have a great voice and sound going on. Please don't be offended, but are you inspired by the band rainbow at all? It made me think back to some stuff they did years ago, either way your stuff sounds great, I'm sure you put a lot of work into your music.
