I've always felt that this song really highlighted Scott's vocals. Hearing them isolated on these takes made them much more profound. Plus, seeing the guys just shows that throughout all the bullshit, they were like brothers and miss him as much as we do.

I have no complaints about this tribute at all, but as an observation regarding what they were going for, I'm actually feeling that Kitchenware and Candybars would've conveyed the message more completely. But still, this is really nice.

I think they chose Atlanta because Scott pretty much tracked it live. I don't know if the case is the same for Kitchenware.

I don't know how this vid went over my head for a month+, but holy shit. Great stuff. Sad, but at the same time, great and wonderful to hear and see them do this. Atlanta really is one of the best and most beautiful STP songs, if not lyrically, musically. The whole thing is very sweeping and grand, and yet restrained just enough to be very graceful sounding. That bass marimba at the end played by Barrett Martin has always been one of my favorite things about that song. It's such a small touch, but it's so beautiful and fits the overall track so well. Scott and STP really were masters of musicality in their own way, genre never really mattered, it was just good music. Versatile band, just as Scott was a versatile vocalist. Great stuff.

I hope the surviving Pilots take the Jimmy Page's play of re releasing their catalog with various takes, mixes and unreleased material.
