Can anyone get the actual soundcloud URL for the Vocals and Orchestral track? It's not appearing on the STP soundcloud page and we can't retrieve the actual track without the URL.

It's gotta be the hardest for Dean, he was saying some really hurtful stuff about Scott just a few months ago... When something like this happens though it makes you realise that life is too short for feuds, life is a gift that can be taken at any moment.

I'm glad that the rest of the band put this out there though, it really is a fitting tribute and very touching.
Nothing matters again, I didn\'t think we\'d last that long

It was a beautiful tribute and an inside look at a private vulnerable moment, which quite frankly, we've never gotten much from them.

What is G-Song? "Glide?"

I was wondering the same thing...  Also, what does it say in parenthesis?  Its either new music or Neal Morse... lol

I teared up when they isolated Scott's vocals.  You can tell that they all love Scott and miss him a lot, just as much as us.

This is somber and uplifting. It's haunting to see Dean, Eric and Robert's reflections while absorbing the majesty of Scott's musicality. The band truly cherishes Scott's vocal abilities here.  And what a pleasant surprise to know that this was recorded to analog tape. The "warm and intimate" praises that sound engineers give to the recording technique very much shine on "Atlanta". My heart is broken. I wish Scott was alive.

I appreciated the initial statement from the band, but this... this is what I really hoped to see. Not that they owed us a damn thing, but this is just... really special, heartbreaking, touching... and even a bit comforting, in the sense that these guys are going to remember Scott for what he brought to the world creatively, just like we all do, even though his troubles affected them personally.

I think Kretz's quotes from the new Rolling Stone article sums up exactly where the STP guys were. They couldn't be in a band with Scott with the way his was behaving, but they ALWAYS hoped it would change.

"It wasn't spontaneous by any means. He was making choices and they were all going bad . . . He was so tenacious in his lust for life in the early years. I really hoped he would come back - and have a second chance."

I also think the quotes from Scott's newest manager and Scott's wife show that Scott new where he was too. "He was well aware of where he was in his career, of how he got there . . . He said, 'I'm sure you hear all this stuff about me. Why would you want to do this?' . . ."

Jamie, in admitting her husband was drinking heavily before the tour, said that he assured her he'd get straight. "He did tell me, 'I'm going to get it together.'"

As a fan, maybe we will see a lot more of this kind of stuff from Dean, Robert, and Eric, as both they and us find catharsis in the music.

I loved hearing these Soundcloud clips. Maybe this is a sign that these tracks will be released as part of a possible archival release/remastering campaign. These would go well on a deluxe edition of No. 4.

I hope there is something the guys and or Atlantic can put together for the fans. I don't even care what album they might would even choose to re release, it would be so cool to just get some goodies from everything these guys did over the years.

I don't know what made me more sad.. hearing Scott's vocals isolated or the look on Rob's face.  Shivers, man.  Shivers.

Damn.

So glad the guys did this, like Dean said very touching indeed. I don't think I'll ever listen to Atlanta the same way

I highly doubt we will see a windfall of things released. Reason being is that it costs money to put these things out, and whoever pays for it expects a reasonable return. Every type of release has a cost associated with it.

So here are things that I think are likely from most to least:

1) New 'best of' package. This one would be more comprehensive than Thank You. Dead and Bloated would be on it, the single version of Creep, Meatplow, Pretty Penny, Unglued, Tumble in the Rough, Hollywood Bitch, Wonderful, etc...maybe not ALL of the songs played on radio, but more than Thank You. Of course it will also include stuff from self-titled, including Between the Lines, Cinnamon, maybe Take a Load Off. Maybe they will finally use the title, "Big Bang Babies." If no b-sides album is planned, I could see them putting some of the unreleased tracks listed below on this release, maybe has a double disc.

2) A b-sides/loose songs/rarities album. Could even include old demos. Only Dying, Super Scary Area, Fast As I Can, You Can't Drive Me Away, Heed the Water Whisperer, About a Fool, Samba Nova, Way She Moves, Watchin' You, Dancing Days (full version), Revolution, Break on Through. Also Sheer Heart Attack and Where Do The Children Play (if they exist), and any other unreleased songs that are complete or mostly complete.

3) A Blu Ray/DVD concert. My best guess would be the August 1999 MGD Blind Date concert in Vegas in full. The band seems to think this was one of their best. Also, some SLDD concerts were recorded professionally, including one I went to back in '01 or '02 at the Joint in Vegas. One of those could be released.

4) A documentary. As we know from Thank You, there is lots of footage of them recording their albums, lots of bootleg footage (remember they asked us to submit what we had when that came out) except possibly No. 4 and self-titled. I could see, instead of the SLDD doc being released, that being folded into a more macro concept of a history of the band, with new interviews with the guys, Brendan O'Brien, other musicians, other guys who worked on the albums, etc.

I could also see these being released in some sort of combination with each other. I doubt we get all four though.

something like the isolated vocals / orchestra, but an album of stuff like that, different takes of songs, different mixes, that would be a really cool way to put STP to rest. wouldn't have to be "hit songs", just interesting stuff. I Know it will never happen, but something like the beatles "love" album would be incredible.
