Nice article.  I know I gave you a lot of flack for your reporting on Scott over the years but I would like to put that in the past.  Everyone here loved Scott and we are united in grief.

Damn. Tearing up at work looking at those pictures. What a horrible day, I can't help but think about how much this will affect his kids instead of how it affects me as a long time fan. Thank you Brett for writing this.

Enjoyed reading this Brett. Nice tribute. I shared it on my Face Book page.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

This is right on. Shows the true power of addiction. The man clearly loved his kids and wanted to be there for them, but it wasn't enough to take himself out of harm's way.
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

I was was listening to HiG in my car a while back and when I left for work this morning it autoplayed and started on Somethings Must Go This Way. I had to collect myself in the parking lot before going in. I feel so devastated.

Here's one of my favorite photos that I took at his show in March of last year. He was so on that night.

Yes but dont forget that long before we were ever united in grief, we were all permanently united in love.

Great tribute, Brett. You put a lot of stuff into words that I cannot.

I know I've been really, really hard on the man lately. And I aplogize everyone for that. But I think deep down I was so angry because I could see this coming. These last few years have been tragic to watch, even before today. There was always this feeling that this was coming around the corner, and that the man I saw up there wasn't the man I wanted to remember when it happened.

I don't know. I'm rambling, I guess. I've just had the defeated notion that all of this was avoidable, but was happening anyway.

I'm sad for his wife, I'm sad for his kids, I'm sad for those of you who had the conviction to stand with him when I could not, and I'm sad for him.
Grab the hate and drown it out...

I don't know that there's need for any of us to apologize, we love a band, a person, a voice, a style of music, an energy and it resonated so deep inside of us that we would get in fights defending him, trying to come up with reasons why things were the way they were. Regardless of how we all channeled our love of this music, let's remember it's all love, and sometimes we fight for that love, sometimes we cry over that love, sometimes we get enraged for that love. Still regardless of what was posted here over the years, pointless arguments and enemies made, it all grew out of love and it all returns back to love too.

One love,
-ChaseR

Thank you, Blue, for saying that. You expressed everything that's going through my mind. I'm saddened by the fact that a talented man is gone, and angry that he brought this on himself, that he just couldn't bother to try and save himself, especially after Jeremy's death. Hell, even getting kicked out of VR should've been enough for him to take seriously his duties with STP like never before, but it wasn't.

And yet, none of this matters. All that matters is the music that he made, the audiences he did manage to entertain, especially in his prime. I'll always keep that image of Scott and STP performing at the House of Blues shows or Rolling Rock as the one I'll remember more. I'll of course always remember what happened with the Wildabouts and what happened the last few years, especially this one, but not as much as I used to.

God knows what his family is going through. And it must be especially hard for Dean, Robert and Eric right now. What are they going to do? What is the future of STP?

When U2 goes to perform their rescheduled HBO special in Paris in a few days, they'll have so much to give tribute for. The tragedy in Paris, the Planned Parenthood attack, the San Bernardino massacre, and now the death of Scott.

When the Foo Fighters next perform in Paris as well, they'll clearly do the same.
