I'd had an inkling that something like this was going to happen, especially after Jeremy's death, but I didn't imagine it would be this soon. I thought Scott would at least have one last fighting chance to take on his addictions, much like the late Jani Lane. But it's all over now. Scott is gone.
I can't help but feel a mixture of great sorrow and anger. Sorrow that one of the greatest frontmen and lyricists who ever lived died well before having a chance to age gracefully, and before handing out any more potential masterpieces. Anger that Scott threw away his incredible gifts, getting himself kicked out of 2 great bands, let his bridges burn, and couldn't give a damn. And as a result, this is what happened. And make no mistake, this can't compare to someone like Hendrix, who remained incredibly gifted and kept honing his gift, even in his worst condition, so we know that he would've kept improving no matter what.
My condolences to Scott's family, and to all of Scott's bandmates past and present, for the loss of their musical brother.
