Also on the bus -- a generic version of Xanax, 2 different brands of sleeping pills, Buprenorphine ... a synthetic opiate painkiller, and Viagra. There was also Ziprasidone ... which is used to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Scott was diagnosed as bipolar in 2001.

Buprenorphine is usually prescribed for addicts to reduce withdrawal symptoms from opiates I believe

I think viagra is also used as a heart medication so it's possible he could have been using that for his cardiomyopathy.  I'm not a doctor though lol

I had friends in college who used to use Viagra and they didn't even have any diagnosed medical problems. It was more just to enhance the experience, so to speak.

Side effects of Bipolar meds are sexual dysfunction , and prob same for the synthetic opioids .

Xanax is very, very dangerous when mixed with other drugs.  People use it for anxiety and it really slows you down...numbs you...which explains Scott's slurring and staring into space.
People also use it to come down from coke. Mix in some booze and some painkillers and you're asking for trouble.

To be honest, though cocaine was reported, I honestly believed that this was going to be a prescription thing, like has happened way too many times. I think sometimes people think that because they are prescribed, they are safe. But the mixing is every bit as deadly...as we know.

If he was on generic Xanax, bi-polar meds, the pain killers, AND drinking, it definitely explains why he's been in bad shape the last few years.


As for the Viagra... Well, his wife was on the bus with them a week or so before he passed

I've been coming on here every day since he passed. I've wanted to post something, take part in mourning him on here but I'm just lost for words. Still am. I woke up to the news of him having died and I just cried all day. Since then I've been kinda numb about it, just blocking it out. I think I have to do that to be able to carry on with my life as usual, going to work etc. Scott isn't the first musical artist I've expenrienced losing. I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan, going on 20 years now, and losing him was one of the most brutal things I've ever experienced. It felt like I lost my best friend/brother/father all in one. I think having gone through that grieving process over Michael (I still do grieve and mourn him though) has made it easier for me to handle Scott's death. I'm devastated but I'm doing okay considering the circumstances as I've been through it before.

Same here.  I was supposed to see his show tonight in Austin.  I haven't listened to any Scott Weiland-related songs since the news of his passing.  Tonight, in tribute, I and the people that were planning on going to the show with me are going to have a Scott-themed party tonight in his honor.  We are going to make the ultimate playlist by beginning with the more soft melancholy songs to help mourn and gradually ramp it up to the heavy rockers because I feel that is what Scott would have wanted.

To finish the night, we are going to watch the blu-ray from the Chicago show.  Going to be a good night reminiscing about the effect that Scott had on all of our lives.

I was talking to one of my friends about this and he's taking antidepressants daily and drinks alcohol on them,he also takes diazepam for panic attacks from time to time and prescription sleeping pills occasionally on top of that. Now I'm not saying this is like Scott's situation because my friend is younger (30's) healthier (has never done illegal drugs) and doesn't have a heart problem but the point I'm trying to make is that if my friend was on tour right now he'd have most of that shit with him too. It doesn't mean Scott was mixing it or taking it at the same time or whilst drunk.
When doctors or psychiatrists prescribe these meds they know what mixes okay with others and stress if you can or can't drink alcohol on them. Perhaps Scott didn't listen and did just pop them all at once and wash them down with a vodka but the list itself (minus the cocaine) isn't that sinister for someone with mental health issues.
