TMZ is reporting it too. He burned the candle at both ends, you can't do that forever. Too bad.

God fucking dammit.
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

Yeah, it's on TMZ. Though their reporting on Scott has been wrong in the past, I don't think Dave Navarro would go on Twitter without being sure.

I wish I could say this surprised me, but I can't. I can only say it's very, very sad.

It's also on Complex, Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound and a dozen other places. I'm afraid this is for real. I am in absolute shock.

While I hoped it wouldn't I had honestly prepared myself for years that this day would come, likely sooner than later. I am not that upset because I always knew he wasn't living a lifestyle that promoted a long life.

For me, I think the worst part is he died unhappy. I don't think he was where he wanted to be, and he just seemed sad when he talked.

Before I get away, I need to vent my thoughts, and sentiments.

Scott Weiland's voice came into my life towards the end of STP's original tenure. Then...around mid-2004, I remember turning on VH1 to see the Music Video for Slither. I remember the feeling was like no other, that song and the record that promptly followed: Contraband, was my Appetite for Destruction, as far as the impact it had on me. That voice, that charisma, presence and power-- like no other.

I soon went back and rediscovered the entire STP catalogue, and became one of his biggest fans. From that point on, there wasn't more than a couple days that would go by without me having to listen to an STP/Solo/VR song.

I don't know if it's the Scorpio thing (as I'm one as well), but I definitely could understand some of the reasons why he acted the way he did in his time-- like most Scorpios, he was one of a kind, and he'll never go without being heard as long as I live.

May he rest in peace, and have found his serenity, after all this time.

With much love, and all the respect in the universe for this mega-force of an individual.

I swear I was looking at all of his tour dates the other day just hoping he would be able to make it through. This has been such a rough year for him I didn't understand why he wouldn't just take some time off.

Damn shame. Will be missed greatly, only 48 had so many good years left of music left in him.

This is fucking nuts. I wish I would just wake up and that this would all just go away.
