Well obviously they all like money, who doesn't...
BUT in regards to the Deleo's love for money let's take a look at past events -
*The Deleo's are quick to scrap any project that doesn't shift many units or concert tickets, this is what they did with 'Talk Show' and 'Army of Anyone' while Scott on the other hand is still promoting 'Blaster' and touring with The Wildabouts despite it not selling many copies or filling arenas. It's a project he is clearly passionate about. He also turned down the opportunity to tour with Art of Anarchy who had received offers for big shows which could have generated him a lot of easy money, instead choosing to stick with The Wildabouts.
*After firing Scott the Deleo's hired Chester Bennington, the lead singer of one of the biggest rock bands around, I don't think this was a coincidence, they clearly wanted a guy who would bring with him a huge existing fan base and gain them lots of media attention but this time around they insisted on keeping the STP name even battling for it in court because they knew that name secures record sales and concert bookings and generates them money.
*In 2007/2008 the Deleo's made the call to Scott ASKING HIM to reunite with them because they had been offered 'huge amounts of money for a few festival appearances'. Scott at the time was still a member of Velvet Revolver and certainly not short of cash, I think his reasons for reuniting with them were more genuine and less motivated by money.
* CheSTP may have recorded a 5 song EP and released it independently but they only performed one of the songs live and spent the rest of the shows performing all the hits they'd written with Scott. They were clearly more passionate about touring with Chester than they were about writing and performing new songs with him. Why?? Because touring and merch are what brings the cash in now, not album sales. Scott on the other hand puts out covers albums, Xmas albums, solo albums, the guy is more creative than the Deleo's who are happy to just go out an play the same old hits for a quick and easy paycheck... Whatever happened to that full length CheSTP album they were talking about 2 YEARS AGO?!
So yeah based on the above I think it's safe to say the Deleo's are quite clearly motivated by money and will quite possibly call Scott AGAIN to do some shows with them and make some quick cash off the back of a 'reunion tour'... I won't be expecting new music from them though, Scott will probably push for that but the Deleo's will respond by playing him 4 or 5 generic riffs that sound like leftovers from S/T and 'High Rise' and insist that THEY produce it and put it out as an EP and just tour the hits... AGAIN.
All true and very accurate... but you forgot one thing.
The DeLeo's also decided to
"save money" by cutting out Brendan O'Brien, and self producing S/T. Another fantastic choice on their part.
Lets face it, both sides want money.
Everyone wants money.
Although, unlike the DeLeo's... Scott has ALWAYS been up front and honest about it. He talks about it in interviews and in his book. Scott even mentioned in interviews how HE wanted to sing deeper tracks, but the DeLeo's insisted on playing the hits because it was more marketable.
Everything Scott has done outside of STP has been his own. All his solo projects, VR, cover albums, Christmas stuff; all under his name. When STP split right before their 20th anniversary tour, Scott dedicated one tour to those songs. That's the ONLY time in 17 years of touring that he's focused on STP material outside of STP.
Apart from STP, Scott has grown as an artist, all while releasing plenty of music in a range of styles. The DeLeo's, are amazing, but never really strayed too far from STP. They didn't have much success with Talk Show or AoA, so rather than trying again with Chester, they pretended that "STP" is still "STP"... and that clearly didn't work out either.
