I think anyone would be upset if someone talked about their private business in public. If Richard Patrick is genuinely concerned about Scott then he should reach out to him privately. Doing it in such a public way will backfire which we see in the way Scott is acting defensive.
So if he wants to be there for Scott, help him or whatever then fine, but do it in private.

At the same time, if you want your business to stay private then keep it private. You can't blame other people for speculating about your sobriety when you show up on stage and in public completely trashed like the Corpus Christy show.
As for Richard, he was directly asked to give his opinion on Scott. Yeah, he stated it dickishly, but people act like he has some axe to grind when he was specifically asked about his opinion on the subject. He didn't bring up the subject out of nowhere, it was a part of a larger conversation about sobriety.
