My jazzy version of Coma
« on: April 18, 2010, 06:21:11 AM »
Here is something I did for an arranging class at Berklee. The assignment was to arrange a tune of our choice and notate it to be played by our classmates. Naturally I chose an STP tune, and I chose Coma, because it lent itself well to being reharmonized. It did get played and went over well (I got an A), but unfortunately I didn't record it. I did sequence it however, so here is the sequence of my jazzy bossa version of Coma. Hope you enjoy.

That's pretty wicked, man. STP should play it that way. I like it better than their Swing Type Thing.

WoW! 5 stars for me! I liked it. Good vibe and it didn't have too much of a "dentist office background music" sound to it. lol Thanks for sharing with us!

When I build my own skyscraper, like Donald Trump, I'm going to be contacting you to put this in my elevators.  I love it.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

It's reharmonized, slowed down, with different instruments, and a completely different genre. It may be hard to hear, but it's in there I promise.

That's really good! Very relaxing to listen to...which is quite opposite of the energetic STP version. (Don't get me wrong, I love the song "Coma.") I can see why the teacher gave you an A on the project.  :)
