so can anyone confirm that SN has been re-recorded?  I wonder if the booklet will mention anything...

Dunno, the vocals sound quite the same (AKA superb) as in older version... Definitely new drums on chorus, and maybe some guitars re-recorded. Mostly EQ & panning / new mix is my guess.

And i'm loving it!

This one sounds like it came straight from 12 Bar Blues.

Dean's guitar style resembles his work from Song For Sleeping, which makes sense as it came from the same album sessions.

Well, well, well....I don´t want to annoy anyone here, but, considering this especific glorious tune, I feel like I have some kinda privilege over you all, my dear north american friends. In case you haven´t noticed it yet, I´m from Brasil, and this is directly inspired on our original music "bossa nova". They, the Deleos, actually admited themselves as being a huge fan of our music, naming Tom Jobin and Joao Gilberto as favorite Brazilian music artists. And knowing the HUGE STP fan I am, could anyone here imagine how did I get after the first time I put my soul on this tune????

What a timeless masterpiece!

Miles above the rest of the album IMO.

Samba Nova should have been on the regular version of the disc.

This is the first time I've heard Samba Nova (from the Deluxe edition), and it is definitely one of my favorites.  Was this recorded in the SLDD sessions?  It is a cross between And So I Know and Divider (from 12 Bar Blues).  Just awesome.  The chorus gives me chills!
And the guiar solo is beautiful!  I feel like I should be sipping some rum in the Carribbean or in South America when I hear this song....

couldn't agree more. i highly doubt they'd ever play it live, but its a really pretty song with a great melody and should be enjoyed by everyone.

I feel that it's better than most of the songs on SLDD. I actually think that all the outtakes from No 4 and SLDD were better than the average tracks on those albums.

My deluxe edition arrived today (sooner than I expected it, it was worth the extra shipping charge). Listening Samba Nova was amazing, coming out not from some PC speakers but from a good stereo system, and CD quality, great experience.
