I had a similar problem with the re-issue of Black Crowes SHMC to the point i bought four separate copies and still dont own a copy to this day. As for my Vinyl copy of STP, it came in pristine condition, i pre-ordered through Livenation when i got my Louisvile Palace tickets, if that matters at all.

NEW RECORD--VINYL VERSION--still has not arrived.
« Reply #17 on: June 18, 2010, 04:26:50 PM »
I ordered it back on May 24th, and the vinyl version has still not arrived.  Has anyone else had this problem?
I got an email from fanfire saying it was on back-order, and that it would come in a couple weeks.  That was over 2 weeks ago.  Is anyone else getting the same runaround?

This is something I've noticed with most modern vinyls. They always skip, and are usually scratched. I think they must be made so cheaply these days.

I don't have the STP vinyl, but I disagree about modern vinyls. I have found they are more durable and skip less often. Of the two hundred records I have bought in the last two years, only one has skipped. Make sure you are cleaning your records well before playing them, and make sure you have a good needle.

Many of the "scratches" on modern vinyl are just surface marks that don't affect the play at all. The majority of these marks are caused by the cardboard sleeves that records are placed in these days. They look nice, but they damage the vinyl when you pull them out. The cheap white paper is much better for storage and safe keeping.

My vinyl copy came today. They thoughtfully included the picture inner sleeve, but put the actual record in a plain white one.

That said, it's a bit of a lame vinyl release IMO, the vinyl is not that heavy, and the whole package is somewhat underwhelming. I would have preferred a double vinyl with 3 tracks per side.
