I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lounge Fly...that song has always radiated epicness to me

by definition of "epic" (and i just looked it up...you should too)
i would have to say that plush is their epic. that shouldn't suggest that it's my favorite, in fact, dead & bloated is my favorite STP song, but i just think that Plush is their "epic" song... followed 2nd and 3rd by Big Empty and Creep
have fun, have fun, have a whole lot of fun!

Sin, Lounge Fly, Kitchenware, Adhesive, Glide, Atlanta, and Wonderful.  Hopefully more to come on the new album, like Huckleberry Crumble!  ;D

I never got what was so great about Atlanta.   People love that song, but it never really did anything for me, although it is nice... I suppose.

As far as epic, I'd have to go with these, mostly because they get a reaction out of me and seem to be personal to Scott:

Wicked Garden
Interstate
Lounge Fly
Silvergun Superman
Big Empty
Adhesive
Tumble In The Rough
Trippin'
Sour Girl

"Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart" is itself an epic "short" song.  It's that flippin good! One of the best alternative rock anthems ever.  It's a perfect song.  Dean's solo is just amazing.

I wish I was old enough at the time to fully appreciate that tune. I was too occupied with the Yankees and watching movie previews on TV for Scream hoping I would get to see it in theaters back in '96. ha.

This is a tough one. My taste in STP songs changes constantly. One week i'll be into No.4 and then Tiny Music, but i'd have to say the songs i find most epic would be (in no particular order):

Only Dying
Piece of Pie
Wicked Garden
Big Empty
Interstate Love Song
Silvergun Superman
Seven Caged Tigers
Lady Picture Show
Adhesive
And So I Know
Heaven and Hotrods
Down
Glide
Regeneration

This is going to sound cheesy, but it's the way I feel it. Atlanta is the kind of song you have to close your eyes, and while the music takes you to other place, you get focus on the way he sings the lyrics, and it is like if he's untying that lump in the throat, like a confession or something, and then when the song ends it takes you a second or two to open your eyes. It's so peaceful.

Um...Hello, it's Late anyone? I cannot believe that hasn't been mentioned.

To me, the term 'epic' means something of a grand scale, or a big sound. A perfect example to me of an epic song would be something like GNR's 'November Rain' or Bon Jovi's 'Dry Country.' Not too many of STP tunes are lengthy in that sense. (Except Where the River Goes, which to me isn't really epic, but more of a jam) If I had to pick a few epic tunes, I guess I would go with the following.

Kitchenware and Candybars
Adhesive
Glide
Atlanta
Hello, It's Late

These songs give me goosebumps more then anything. Sometimes, I'll just lay in bed and stare off and loose myself in the music.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Epic Songs:

1-Dead and Bloated
2-Wicked Garden
3-Where the River Goes
4-Interstate Love Song
5-Kitchenware and Candybars (wish i could get my hands on a copy without the stupid "hidden" song thats tacked on to the end of it)
6-Trippen in a Hole in a Paper Heart
7-Adhesive
8-Down
9-Glide
10-Atlanta
11-Wonderful
12-Hello its Late
13-Long Way Home (would be way better that what it is now if they didn't fade Deans killer solo at the end of this song to the point where you can barely hear it)

STP has always taken a page from the book of Zeppelin and have always closed their albums with epic songs...

Where The River Goes

Kitchenware

Seven Caged Tigers

Atlanta

Long Way Home
STP: 08/22/10 - Cleveland, OH.
        08/28/10 - Pittsburgh, PA.

Agreed! Good point about how all the songs at the end of each STP album are definitely epic or are epic sounding! I would only expect that on the next STP record as well!
